I was a 10 year old nipper and I can remember the sound of the surf pounding the beach. I’d never seen or heard that before that day. A few boats were smashed and the brand new state of the art unsinkable Wales Surf rescue jet boat sank late that afternoon.

Myself and 2 other Club members from Devonport Tassie were there and it was a massive surf, the Boat burning at 13th beach on the Sunday night was epic also, best titles I ever went to

That wasn't the wave that destroyed the boat. It was way bigger. The crew said 25 foot. The date is also wrong. It was Sunday march 22nd 1966.

I also counted 23 girls vs. 17 guys. If these tugs of war were to test who are stronger (men or women), the number of girls and guys should be equal.

Actually -here is 23 girls and 17 guys ! If we know that average guy have 33% more weight mass that average girl -this is fair tug o war 17 guys with 75 klios is 1275 kilos-23 girls with 55 kilos is around 1265.Fair game !

Enrike Abenaor they aren’t fully grown so they aren’t average men. The females also looked older which means stronger.

Enrike Abenaor Your analysis is about right. They gave the girls roughly a +6 handicap which should eliminate the guys’ weight advantage. Although there were a lot of scrawny younger boys, there were some young skinny girls too. About as fair as you can make these things. Give credit to the girls!
