This mightve been one of your best runs ever. Absolutely mediocre cards pulled that you played beautifully. On the double chrysalis in the last match, the way you held out on that was incredible. Holy crap that was fun to watch
@ThatGuy-ng7et5 сағат бұрын
50:26 I’m pretty sure you still couldn’t do that entire sequence bc it would require 8 mana: an initial 1 to play the secretkeeper, 2 to run away together, 4 to make opponent discard two. after that your secretkeeper is still in your hand and you’re tapped out so you die to the redcap 1/1 thingy.

Historic is about 50% Boros energy (not an exaggeration) and 50% decks designed to beat Boros energy (mostly combo and control). Boros energy is mostly the best imaginable MH3 Boros draft deck, so you shouldn’t have any trouble understanding it.
@user-dq7gk4po6z16 сағат бұрын
The pool was actually kinda good, MH3 is not a prince format so bomb rares are less impactful. The first five games were played really good, then collapsed under Chrysalis pressure on the sixth with a bad Tusker for Dryad trade on attack, and failing to find Fanged Flames on Breaker of Creation (wouldn't then need to get the unnecessary risk of going dead to removal). Congrats on the qualification, Boros Energy is a good starting point to grasp the format with five days's worth of preparation. See you on Saturday. -Your friend KamiOfLuckyTopdecks

@1:35:12 The Victimize probably wouldn't have been any better of a draw even it came before the board wipe, because either way the Toxic Deluge is wiping your board. But it is a much funnier draw after the board wipe because Arena is like "here, maybe this card reflects how you're feeling." :D

Omg sundering Titan was brutal
@AlanMalloy5 күн бұрын
I think the reason you can't see the Wormcoil Engine and Sundering Titan stats is that the only printing of the cards on Arena were the retro frame printings from BRO. Those cards have their stats formatted to work with that frame, and they don't fit right on the normal token frame.

41:50 Shadow of the Sacred Sun: The card itself has to be in play to recognize the prerequisite of the *beginning* of the postcombat main phase. Because it is not in play until *after* the beginning of the postcombat main phase, the prerequisite is not satisfied and thus it is required to play the card before the combat phase in order to benefit from its effects on the same turn that it is played.
@mikemosz6 күн бұрын
Yes but why is it phrased like that. Why not, at the end of your postcombat main phase, or at the beginning of your end step? I assume some edge case where there are multiple postcombat main phases or something along those lines.
@u4iadreams5 күн бұрын
@@mikemosz Because the card is designed to trigger at the beginning of the postcombat phase. There are many cards that trigger at the beginning of phases - the most common being the upkeep phase. Why is *this* particular card designed to specifically trigger at the beginning of the postcombat main phase? I don't know specifically, but I would look at other cards in the set and it's surrounding sets to look for synergies. If there are none, then it's likely triggering at this time to balance the effect of the card in the game such as the player using it having to sacrifice their ability to do combat tricks if they want the card to be on the board early in the game and on their own turn. The card is actually worded perfectly to dictate when it needs to be in play and when the trigger happens. M:tG works like programming code. Just as cards affect other game systems and board states such as hand size, library size, and life total, cards in play potentially are affected by the game state: "when a player has 13 life...". Regardless of the card, it has to be *in play* before it can recognize the triggers that activate it. There isn't a better way to logically word this particular card to communicate effectively when it needs to be in play for the prerequisites to trigger and for the card to activate. Understanding these systems and how the wording on each card interacts with games systems and other cards used to be a puzzle that was printed in Wizards magazine. They are a lot of fun and really challenge player understanding of the game. You should look them up if you ever want some brain twisters :) They're basically like white board coding puzzles. ("Using the M:tG programming language and these resources, write blocks of code such that player A can put player B in a 0 life state by the end of this turn that is already in the precombat main phase on player B's turn.")

not killing the mana dork during the first lost was a huge mistake 😢
@GomletX7 күн бұрын
They had the mana to cast their rare without the mana dork by sacrificing the Eldrazi Spawn. They ended up not even using the extra two mana they had untapped at the end of the turn, so the only difference is that we would've killed their Eldrazi Spawn as well. The game would have gone the exact same way.

It's the third best card in the pack by Winrate behind only Malevolent Rumble and basically tied with Conduit Goblin, I find green to get cut far more often than blue, and don't like starting with a Gold card. It's a debatable pick between the three for sure, but I think Visionary there is reasonable, I think giving so much weight to the blue cards to the point of P8 Utter Insignifance over Conduit Goblin is where things went wrong
