Rode many a mile in a Trader as a kid. It was replaced by a New AEC Mercury ergonomic. What a leap forward in truck development. The sight of a Trader still makes me smile👍

I have happy memories of the Trader, I used to pick Overalls and Laundry from local factories and Hotels for Lakeland Laundries in Barrow in Furness, some great people drove them, they got superseded by Bedford TK’s good time’s 😊😊

One of the best little trucks of its time, boxed well above its weight, only 6.7 litres and hold their own against many a 10 litre .

I've been a trucker for over 20 years and nearly all of that spent tramping , i loved it and touch wood i never had anything stolen off my trailers but I've had the curtains cut to see what's in the trailer. Once i had a couple of thieving morons try to steal fuel out my tanks but they never got any because my tanks were nearly empty but the morons took the sender unit out the tank and cut it in half and just wrecked it out of frustration for not getting any diesel. All the times someone has knocked on my door at night were either trying to sell me copy dvds or stupid phone scams claiming you put a code in your phone for free calls for life so long as you pay the guy handsomely 😂😂😂😂😂.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Yes, those old Whites were quite nice looking. My dad bought a new REO in 51 to pull a tanker. His drivers requested a White due to its looks, so he took the REO off the haul & bought a 52 White. It was a nice truck, but it didn’t due the job like the REO did. White bought out REO & Diamond T, then later merged them as Diamond REO. Those were nice trucks, too. Tis a shame that they no longer make the Diamond REOs. I love to see these old trucks being restored & used again! Thanks for sharing. Blessings.🥰😎✌️

I drove a Thames Trader in the 60s. They were heavy to drive as there was no power steering. You had to have arms like Garth.

Great vid. In the early 70’s my dad had a trader being the newest driver. It was the only one in the company the rest were D series. The thing I found strange having been in different lorry cabs was in the trader, you were virtually sitting on the floor. I like the dash and controls design layout so for export Fords only had to move the steering wheel and the pedals.

You get drivers then you get Steering wheel attendants unfortunately there more steering wheel attendants now then drivers the industry is very Regulated for what it is. Getting into the industry as a own driver is mostly impossible now just down to the cost and all the required documents and license government seem to want to wipe out the small guy and give all the benefits to bigger company's who then just see you as a number and then the government go on about how there a shortage of drivers. I love to have my own truck and company it easy for me to get into property the small things that are add up is what is killing the industry specially vosa who will happily help them selfs to your bank account specially if you make a small mistake on your tachograph within the last 28 days.
