I'd love to see him live, maybe give him a handshake or a big hug for all he does keeping us little people front and center in his thoughts and music. It sucks being poor in Kentucky, but at least I do still have my soul intact. I try not to let the hatred of the entitled rich invade my mindspace. I try. Peace!

This guy has been fighting for the little people in both UK and US for thirty years. Music was, in the sixties, the protest. Shit has gone sideways and the only protester I hear is Billy. Solidarity!

@spedcaster So are you accusing me of opposing the Occupy Movement or not?
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
Dave Hyland: "The Occupy movement and the rightward lurch of musician Billy Bragg" dated 27th October 2011. Google it! You will find no reference to "arseholes" in the article that Billy tried to misrepresent in the above video.
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
Dave Hyland quote: "Billy Bragg, the British musician and political activist, has provided a left cover for the Labour and trade union bureaucracy in Britain for several decades. He has now posted an article on his web site opposing any political development of the Occupy Wall Street movement. A lifelong opponent of socialist revolution, Bragg instinctively recognises the movement as a potential threat to capitalism and the bureaucracy to which he is loyal."
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
@braggcentral I'm sorry you're so confused on the matter. I was simply paraphrasing Hyland and agreed with his assessment of your political stance. If you actually bothered to read what I said in full you will find no inconsistency in what I wrote. Enough of this nit-picking, tit-for-tat bullshit! Your pitiful attempt to deflect what I said is not working Mr Bragg. People, I leave it to you to make up your own minds.
@BillyBraggOfficial13 жыл бұрын
@spedcaster True to form, you've made another post in which the truth is actually to opposite to what you are asserting. Here's the bit where you 'did not claim' that I opposed the Occupy Movement: "Dave Hyland nailed the underlying reason for Bragg's opposition to the Occupy Movement"
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
@braggcentral I did not claim that you opposed the Occupy Movement. On the contrary, I questioned the suspect motives behind your support. I did however refer to Dave Hyland's article, which cited the article published on your website opposing any political development of the Occupy movement. It would certainly be helpful to the Occupy supporters if you could state your support for capitalism more clearly so we can all at least understand where exactly you are coming from.
@BillyBraggOfficial13 жыл бұрын
@spedcaster You're argument is somewhat undermined by the fact that you claim I oppose the Occupy Movement. From then on, it would be rational to assume that whatever you say about me, the truth is, in fact, the opposite.
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
Part 01: Billy Bragg, like most other celebrities claiming to be on the left, is a fraud. Dave Hyland nailed the underlying reason for Bragg's opposition to the occupy Movement in his article, when he said Bragg is "a millionaire who lives in a beautiful house in Dorset with his wife and son. His political positions express a social viewpoint hostile to any movement that threatens their own privileged lifestyle."
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
Part 02: Absolutely no one who accumulates wealth and prospers from capitalism will support movements that threaten their lifestyle. They may claim to be on your side but behind the scenes they are vehemently oppossed to you. Bragg over the years has carved a nice little earner for himself as a 'protest singer', but that's just a persona he needs to maintain to sustain his priveliged life - that's who Billy Bragg is now.
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
Part 03: Bragg's appearences at these protests are not to support the movement but to push his face in and usurp the publicity for his own agenda - to sell his music. Just like Paul Weller, The Gallagher brothers and sting - proud they may be of their working class roots - they are deviously self-serving.
@spedcaster13 жыл бұрын
Part 04: See the video above from 7:15 showing how Bragg deviously manipulates the crowd to back him up, and claims "we are the 99%". In reality Bragg now represents the 1% that the Occupy Movement exists to oppose. He is there for the free publicty and to perpetuate his 'protest singer' persona for loadsamoney, nothing else.
