This Gary Moore SG TV Yellow is being auctioned today at Gardiner Houlgate at 10 am. Unfortunately, it has recently been discovered that GM owned 2 of these so no one can say for sure which one was used on the Showbiz Blues videos clip. Notice the updated wording in the catalogue. This will affect the value imo so it will be very interesting to see how much it achieves in the auction. I am not sure it is such a good buy now there's 2 of them!

It does make very interesting reading by today’s auctioneers and also that it’s being auctioned on again just over two years later. I was genuinely interested in bidding in 2022 and the uncertainty of the guitar as you saw in this video did put me off 😊👍
@flashmobvids
@flashmobvids 3 күн бұрын
@@GigsandGuitars Yes, well the uncertainty certainly escalated! It sold for a very underwhelming 14.5k. As you know, it was bought from Bonhams for 15.3k (inc premium) in 2022. As a guitar collector myself, I estimate that losing the 'Showbiz Blues' (from Blues for Greeny VHS) connection cost it about 8k!! The seller must be gutted because he would have bought that from Bonhams assuming (as per their description) this was the guitar used on Showbiz Blues. I wonder if a potential claim for damages could be pursued? So many questions raised with this guitar (I have researched it quite a bit) and your video just scratched the surface!

Great Video Kevin, its great for showing all the work involved in the background runnings of a band. Shame about the weather at st Annes but it was a decent turnout. Could hear us doing Burning Bridges as you were driving in and a snippit of Fox on the run. Hope to get out to see you guys soon. Andy

(btw - any more of these fly on the wall local gig life videos would be really appreciated. I know recording them must be a bit of a hassle, but would love to see more of these in the future)

Thanks Jerry for your kind words. It was a bit hectic in putting a video together and I’m very happy how it turned out. Being honest, the wedge in front of me was a tad quiet during our first track as bizarrely I couldn’t hear my amp too well. The amp was set at its normal gig level to give me its ‘sweet spot’ so that it didn’t mess with its tone. I then asked for my guitar mix to be increased by a tad in the monitor to compensate. It was all a bit of a rush with no prior sound check, as we wanted to complete a full set in the time slot and the sound was adjusted on the fly!! It was a great weekend and I hope that it gave you a good insight into what our wives/partners have to put up with 😂👍

I’ve not tried it acoustically, but on my clean channel it levels all the volumes up across the fret board and can increase sustain if required. I can’t see it not working and for the money it’s great value which I’ve used on two gigs this weekend 👍

A compressor would have to be faulty or ridiculously badly designed to "have" noise. People.. if you read comments saying a compressor is "noisy" just disregard that person's appraisal, as they clearly don't have the knowledge to give you worthwhile advice.

Here's a list of minor mods you might want to try to see if you like it better. 1. Hipshot drop D on the low E string. 2. Banjo drop tuners on the high E and A strings. 3 Hipshot open back on the rest. 4. Roller string tree. 5. Brass roller nut. 6. Sand the neck to a compound radius. 7. Strap pull b bender. 8. Reverse the control plate. 9. 500k linear volume pot for volume swells. 10. 250k linear tone pot for wah wah sweels. 11. Modern 6 saddle bridge. 12. Brass roller saddles on the high E and B strings. 13. Steele roller saddles on the G and D strings. 14. Aluminum saddles on the A and low E strings. That's what I did to mine and I like it alot better now.

The main reason it feels less slinky to the Strat is because the Strat has a 9.5" radius neck. This explains also why the Gibson with a 12" radius feels even more slinky. Well that and the fact that the scale length is shorter than your fenders. Also, the Strat might have medium jumbo frets whereas the Tele will have vintage sized frets. This also makes a difference when bending.
