You can be arrested for trespassing for flying over someone’s property. A National Geographic photographer was while flying a paraglider. In Wyoming you can be arrested for corner crossing without touching the ground. The FFA is considered more of an easement, not a right to do what you want to make money. If you need to fly 50 or 60 feet above the ground you need permission. Drones are more intrusive than general aviation. If you are flying over someone’s property for the purposes of photography, you need permission to trespass. If you are a ligament business you can always pass that cost along.

Can you use both SDC ports to charge 2 Mavic 3 batteries at the same time if you had 2 of the adapters? Looking at the specs and both the SDC and SDC Lite ports appear to have the same input/output voltage. So I wonder if you can output max charging speed to two batteries at the same time or not? (confused why it's called "Lite" unless the limitation is that you cannot output max speed from both ports at once)

Years ago they made charges that would charge the DJI batteries all simultaneously I got one from my FPV drone whatever happened to those kind of charges?
@Dronevalley2 күн бұрын
We sold them and with the newer batteries and higher capacities the chargers got too expensive. We shifted to making our own products like these that you can use with your drone batteries and other gear like phones, tablets and cameras.

@@Dronevalley Doing the kind of flying that I do the simultaneous charging of the batteries is unbelievably useful but oh well I guess if you can't do it you can't do it.

@@SgtJamesRay You might want to look into the new DJI power 500 and Power 1000 units from DJI. They have an SDC port that can charge the Mavic 3 and Air 3 batteries fully in about 25 minutes. I use these power stations when flying and they can keep the drone aloft all day by charging one battery while I'm flying with another.

Adjusting voltage is essentially the function of a DC-DC converter, so stating that DC-DC conversion isn't involved is incorrect.
@Dronevalley2 күн бұрын
I was referring to a typical DC to DC converter that has a fixed input and output voltage that is more of a "brute force" conversion. This SDC port on the DJI Power 500 and Power 1000 is more nuanced and can adjust the output voltage through software and interacts with the various external connections to provide just the right amount of DC at a much higher current. Unlike a traditional Dc to DC converter that is fixed, this SDC port is adjustable.

Just because you are an engineer, 🚂 doesn’t mean you know about UAV’s and radio waves. lol
@Dronevalley3 күн бұрын
Actually, that's exactly what it means. Engineers have an insatiable curiosity about all types of tech and are actually schooled on RF theory during their education. So any Electrical Engineer you talk to would have had classes on RF and Microwave topics. Both of these antenna are based on long-standing physical principles that are used in tech today all over the world. In addition to that, I've been flying RC planes for decades, and UAV products since the early days of the hobby and have a ton of real-world experience as well. So you can trust me when I post a clip like this.

I can hear my AIR 3 coming in sport mode, from almost a quarter mile, & I fly 200feet + in altitude. Same with my Mini 4 Pro, 200+ foot in altitude & 700 + feet out in sport mode, you can hear those props clear as day. I have Master Airscrew props coming in the mail tomorrow because of this. They are supposed to be more quiet then OEM props.

No drone is allowed to fly abmnd hover homes or in windows
@Dronevalley4 күн бұрын
A drone can fly over your property but shouldn't hover. That's the exact point of the video. Hovering over a backyard is just plain creepy. The only exception to this is if someone is filming some real estate near your home and they may need to hover over your yard to get a picture of one of your neighbors yards.

Quick answer: NO
@Dronevalley5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply but I guess that you're smarter than both Archimedes and the team of Yagi and Uda because they would disagree with you. Both of these range extenders are based on sound scientific principles that have been proven to work for hundreds of years and used in countless products. The parabolic reflector is from ancient times and flashlights, dish antenna and a host of other items would be rendered useless if it didn't focus a signal. The Yagi-Uda range extender is in wide use as well in all types of radio gear and can greatly increase signal strength. You might want to do a little research before posting. There's an old saying that applies here - it's better to be thought of as a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

What do you think is going to happen to all already-owned DJI drones after they're banned by the feds? Will they be somehow rendered inoperable and bricked? Or will they still be technically flyable but illegal to use?
@Dronevalley9 күн бұрын
I'm terrified that this legislation will have a huge impact on our hobby. The thing I keep coming back to is that MOST drones flying today are made in China so why is the government singling out DJI? Besides all of the technical limits to anyone using a drone to "spy", DJI is the only company building safeguards (NFZ restrictions, data encryption) into their products, which makes them some of the safest aircraft flying today. It's clearly a case of the lobbyists sponsoring Senators to prevent DJI from competing for contracts in the U.S. against homegrown gear that has less features and costs 8X more on average. And this is happening right before our eyes. Shameful
@RenzorTheRed9 күн бұрын
@@Dronevalley Yeah the bill creator has ties to that expensive American brand. Clearly special interest stuff. But, with your knowledge of how drones work, do you think dji drones might literally be bricked somehow? Or they will still be operational, albeit illegal?

You know the tech you speak off... aircraft awareness and avoidance.. its already here and has been for awhile
@Dronevalley9 күн бұрын
All I've seen around this tech is early, large and very expensive. It's nowhere near ready for consumer/commercial drones like these DJI models. I'm sure it will get smaller and cheaper but that's years away from now. It would need to incorporate ADS-B, Lidar and some visual sensors to ensure it didn't miss anything.

New drone flyer here! Just started with a Mini 2 and loving it but definitely overly conscious and cautious about the battery life, especially since I bought it used. Was there ever a firmware update for this issue?
@Dronevalley13 күн бұрын
Welcome aboard! Yep, the latest firmware fixed this issue. Be sure to check the DJI site for your drone under the "downloads" tab to make sure you're on the latest. Also, when you do the update be sure to rotate all of your batteries through the drone. They each have controllers inside of them (smart batteries) and may need to be updated as well. I hope that helps and be sure to sub the channel so you don't miss anything.

Is there a way to draw more current than 10 amp via the SDC port for amateur radio enthusiasts? We need up to 30 amps.
@Dronevalley13 күн бұрын
Nope, not yet at least but I do expect that DJI will be releasing more adapters for the SDC port over time. I'm hoping the Mavic 4 Pro is next. Stay tuned.

Finally the SDC wire for Mavic 3 was available and DJI emailed me. What a Rip-Off….$19 for the wire and $10 for shipping=$30 Friggen dollars for the stupid little SDC wire. POO
@Dronevalley13 күн бұрын
That's the challenge with custom products with low production runs. They tend to be expensive but you have to remember that it's more than a wire. The base has a controller in it that negotiates with the Power 1000 and controls the charging. Besides, you're flying a $1500 drone, $30 should not bother you to be able to recharge the batteries in about 30 minutes. That extra air time is well worth it.

how does the bezel compensation work?
@Dronevalley13 күн бұрын
It allows you to easily adjust the amount of space the video takes up on the screen and move it around if you need to. It's basically a fine-tuning control for the output. Most units don't provide this and Orei spent time including it in this product. It really helps.
