What a cool guy! I grew up watching his ski movies and they really fueled my passion for skiing! I'm almost 49 years old and I still love watching them :)

My high school buddy and i met Fred at a lecture back in ~1986 in NY/NJ. He gave a nice presentation (slides) showing mostly nature from all his travels in the cascades. He gave me an 8x10 autograph picture, which I still treasure to this day.

I met Fred in Seattle at a lecture... he told me to ride a bike instead of climbing because it didn't require rope.
