Great videos. I live in Vegas and just started rockhounding. I went to Kingston a few weeks ago but didn't find any amethyst. How far up the mountain do you go and do you just follow the wash to get up there? I could not find any good trails but maybe I did not look hard enough.

Thanks, I appreciate the compliment! I'm curious to know if you found any quartz crystals at all while you were out there and where exactly you were? Honestly, I'm all over those mountains. I try to stay in the wash when it's easier, but I end up either making my own path or by following one of the many trails made by the open range cattle. The path of least resistance I guess you can say. I'm always trying to find new grounds, so I hike way into the range and keep my eyes peeled for the quartz veins or signs of white quartz everywhere. I've always found better material at higher altitudes, but I've also found color at the wash level, too. I go out there pretty often, not because I find it every time but because I don't. Lol.. I'm always prepared to hike a lot, dig a lot, and swing my sledge hammer a lot. It's so much fun but also dangerous. I've seen lots of snakes out there. So far, just 2 different species of rattlesnakes, but there are also lots of open range bulls out there as well as other wildlife. If you're sitting on the ground, be cautious, there's scorpions and deer ticks out there also. Don't give up, and you'll find it. I've found it all over those mountains in there. It's not just found on one particular mountain. My best finds were higher up and dig dig dig.. Good luck! RockOn!!!

@@RockhoundTreasurehunt Thank you for the quick and detailed response. Yes we did find a bunch of quartz in the wash. We didnt go outside of the wash since I had my kid with me, and we found out pretty quickly that its probably not the safest area for kids, so we did not stay too long there. Next time we would go without the little one. Have you been around the back of that silver water tower right when you get to the base of the range? Seems like a real quick hike I could do while my wife and little one have a picnic in the car. Just wondering if there was anything worthwhile up there.

@adamfong6898 I have not gone behind that to do any scouting. If you do want to find it, I would definitely leave the little one at home and be prepared for a long, exciting hike that may kick your butt, but it's always worth it. In some of my videos, I show you where I'm at in there and how I kinda got there. Good luck & RockOn!!!

They do belong to the Ranch. I've seen the ranchers on several occasions tending to them. They use side by sides. I think the ranches are located off of Kingston Rd on the way to Sandy Valley from the Kingston. Right where the maintained and non maintained roads meet. If you follow the maintained road North towards Sandy Valley you'll pass a couple huge ranches. I think that's them but not 100% sure

Wow Chris, those are some seriously big beautiful crystal clusters of purple gold! I didn't get a chance to watch any videos yesterday and Ken didn't tell me you had a new video up! Going to have to train him better! Lol! That find if the day was just gorgeous! And those crystals were super chunky! Just amazing! There looked like maybe some pyrite on some of those? I don't get the best picture with my TV so, idk! Ken thinks it looks more like goethite, he may be right! I can't see it very well! But man they were beautiful! Awesome treasures! And my favorite was the same as yours! But even the two little clusters were pretty! It's all treasure anyways! Congratulations on hitting a fantastic pocket! You deserve it! I've located so many quartz veins containing amethyst. I can't wait to get back there this weekend. I think I'm going to hit an old spot that I haven't been back to since it's discovery. I made my F Bomb video there. The whole slope of that mountain I scouted at the time was covered in white quartz with amethyst everywhere. I just need to locate the main source of all the white quartz, which, of course I'll just follow up the mountain to it's source. I'm really excited about this hunt. I know where the chunky pocket is from this video. It's covered and hidden. It'll be there when I go back. I just love scouting new spots, and this one has been waiting for me long enough. Have a great day and RockOn!!!

Wow Chris, you scored! That little stromatolite you found us gorgeous! And the petrified wood finds were just amazing! And in that circle of rocks, there was one that looked completely opalized in some lovely pastels, like that one that was on both aides of that sandatone piece. You most definitely should have grabbed that one too. I have a feeling it would look absolutely amazing polished! The petrified wood oieces that you did pick up were nice but you have to widen you view to other things while you are out there! Man i would so love to be able to hunt your desert sometime! But i think those days are gone. Im not able to walk on uneven ground like that and its not fair! There is so many things that i wish i could do that we take for granted. Until we can no longer do them. Like visit Egypt and aee the pyramids! I cant walk on sand and my walker or my wheelchair would both be worthless to me there, on sand. So it will never happen, even if i could afford it. These things on my bucket list are already past now! So as my eyes Chris, you need to widen your scope of view! There is more to life then just pet wood! Just look down and look for color and textures that are interesting and then we will worry about what minerals they are made of and what that were. Everything you find in the desert is a fossil of something. Nothing out there survives for long! And i will admit that the let wood is gorgeous but so are other things! Lol That was a fun little trip to the past! Thanks Chris❣️
@RockhoundTreasurehunt
@RockhoundTreasurehunt 4 ай бұрын
You are soooo right, Lisa! Lol.. I see so many fossils out there or very odd looking pieces of material that I know are more than just a rock. I mean, everything is more than just a rock.. Oooo, that would make a good title. Lol.. "More than just a rock." But yeah, I've been saying to a friend of mine that I need a geologist friend or someone who knows their stuff to hang out with. You should see some of the things I come across that don't get recorded. I'm convinced that I've looked at and walked away from unknown fossil species. And I also might have a few that I'm unaware of. Lmao.. Please continue to educate me, cause I seriously need it! 😆 🤣 You are absolutely right! We all take advantage of so many things in life until it's gone. I am definitely wearing blinders out there and probably pass up some pretty amazing specimens every time. Even going as slow as I do. Now I wanna get back out there and see what I can find but unfortunately, it's 112 today and similar weather the rest of the weekend. I'll have to just bite the bullet and do a very early morning start. Eyes open wide!!

No worries!! You know, I am completely the same way. I am guilty of the same thing. I've been pretty busy with work, and by the time I get home, there's just not much time left in the day. I unfortunately haven't been posting many videos lately, but I'll be picking up the pace. You know, I missed going out into the desert and hunting for its treasures. It's been about 1 year of nonstop quartz crystals. In that 1 year I've learned a lot about where to really look. Every trip now is better and better material. The sad part is that my best days with my best finds are days I decided not to film and just dig. I love both hunting grounds and haven't gotten sick of either. I just have less purple gold than I do petrified wood. Lol.. No need to apologize, my friend! RockOn!!!
