Even though I was an Easts fan, I was at this game with my dad and brother (both of whom were Souths fans). I was the only one in the family celebrating when Souths lost! LOL With my mum supporting Redcliffe, it was always interesting times in the household during footy season…

The old BRL comp was no place for the faint of heart. It might have been a yard or two off the pace of the Sydney comp, but there were plenty of quality blokes in the BRL who could hold their hands up when things got a little willing. When Trevor "the Axe" Gilmeister went down to Sydney to play for the Roosters in 1986, he's on record as saying how amazed he was at how clean the game was!
