I love this so much. I found it on a Paste CD (from the magazine) and it got me through some rough times at a terrible job. Thanks, Jens!

Oh no, God damn I missed the last train I killed the party again God damn, God damn I want to sleep in my bed I want to clean up my head Don't want to look this dead Don't want to feel this dread I killed the party again I ruined it for my friends "Well, you're so silent, Jens" Well, maybe I am, maybe I am Now at the central station No time for being patient I feel like going home But at the same time, I don't Black Cab And I've heard all those stories About the black cabs and the way they drive That if you take a ride with them You might not come back alive They might be psycho killers But tonight I really don't care So I say turn up the music Take me home or take me anywhere Black cab You don't know anything So don't ask me questions You don't know anything So don't ask me any questions You don't know anything So don't ask me questions Just turn the music up And keep your mouth shut Black cab

Great song for ending a night out...alone. Also reminds me of the time I lived in Zurich. Was easy to miss the last tram and get stuck at the central station

tbh this doesnt sound that good.. its slower and more boring he sounds like hes messing up the vocals almost? like hes flat
@kay23033 жыл бұрын
That's just how he sings. He uses that deep, rich tone (flat, as you say) switching back and forth with his more high/soothing tone. Quite Frank Sinatra-esque who I believe was one of his inspirations along with Magnetic Fields (particularly) you'll for sure hear the resemblance between them haha

I always liked this song. When I was a little younger, I used to work as a delivery driver in the city of Los Angeles, and in the later hours of my shift (mid-late morning), I would listen to this song as I drove up into Malibu along the coast -- the Pacific Coast Highway. I wasn't happy with my life in those days, and so I sang loudly and passionately along to those song -- and (I think) in key through the steadily worsening sound system of that Ford E Series van. I treasured these lines because: "but, Sister, it's the opposite of Hallelujah it's the opposite of being you you don't know cause it just passes right through ya you don't want I'm going through" gratified my angst and explained everything in those days. Great prose, Jens! I miss those days, and also laugh about them, all thanks to the Lekman

I keep on trying to think of something meaningful to say about Jens, about how underrated he is or how 'Black Cab' is a masterpiece, but I can't really express how important his work is to me. His music is on such a higher level than any commentary on it. Emotionally, music cannot get any better than this. I'm going to see him live in winter for the first time. I really hope I get the chance to thank him for everything.
