Going to the island in a little while, and looking forward to seeing the Archaeology of the Island. however there is one drawback the cost of hotels. I gather that hotels are incredibly expensive. $300 per night. That's in Nanaimo. You would expect to pay that in London UK. Not a town in Canada.

Thank you. I'm looking for something far enough from the water that I'd not have to worry about flooding during rainy season. A water view from a higher elevation would be great. Where dogs don't roam wildly about barking constantly.. Where ExPats would help me feel more at home and offer advice. I have a limited budget, but could get along with rent and living expenses for about $1K a month. I've been watching KZbins and saw beautiful apts. it'd have to be safe for an older solo woman.
