🙂 i'd be happy to have one just on a engine stand not alone in a plane. The sort of thing you'd just lose yourself looking at it and finding new things on it and would always put a silly smile on your face. Looks great and on a Camel or wildcat etc be bliss. Spot on dude i hope you get the most out of it and Enjoy. 🙂 Thanks for Sharing dude Peace out and stay sunny side up. Daz and my dog Max in the UK

Why on earth ppl do this is beyond me. Going from CDI ignition to glow plug is a complete downgrade.
@adelaseeri7683 жыл бұрын
I agree a CDI unit performs better but people have their reasons, maybe they don't wanna be time limited by ignition batteries, maybe it's because of interference problems with the radio, yes if an ignition unit/servo setup is not set up properly it will affect your radio and 2.4 GHz radio are not immune to ignition interference I've seen it first hand, maybe the person doesn't want to mess around with ignition timing, maybe the person wants to go with a higher compession setup and prevent detonation as ignition source will depend upon natural heat cycle of the combustion chamber, maybe he did it just for the heck of it! Who knows, I personally wouldn't not unless I wanted to convert it to run on methanol.
@scottyd035ntknow3 жыл бұрын
@@adelaseeri768 I run all of my methanol glow engines on ignition as well. Flight times almost double and the mess on the plane is near non existent. Only valid reason for glow plugs is a legit super high rpm race engine. Any other reason is laziness.

This is one of 5 made in Germany by Ditmar Kolbe. I designed and built the prototype in the UK during 2001. I then sent the design to Ditmar in Germany. I believe there are just the 6 engines in the world, so it is very rare indeed. Peter Tarn.

@wilzchau6 жыл бұрын
Yes this is not a glow engine. But having compression ignition does not necessarily mean it is a "diesel". It is not burning pump diesel as fuel, nor does it share commonalities featured in modern full-size diesel. It is a compression ignition engine, that's it.

hi there, do you think that a 4 cilinder version of this engine is strong enough to power a Rc tank? weighing about 30 kg? because it sounds way better that a benzine/gasoline engine! (did i say that i love the sound?)
