Are you Shure you get the real "la lune" , because Nicholas had also ather 2 Stone with similar colore , the "Red Blood" and the other Is similar of a vintage "rouge de salm"

I have a real "la lune" with the Nicolas Rollin sticker. The slurry on that stone should never be done with a diamond blade, not even with a 1000/1500 diamond blade because you will ruin the sharpening surface. practically the abrasives of the stone are "rounded". the slurry must be made exclusively with its boute. it is an ultra finishing stone, so if you find scratches on the bevel it is because a good pre-finishing of at least 8k synthetic was not done. if the pre-finishing is done well it leaves a very efficient and sharp edge with a mirror polished bevel. I have seen that for an even better result I always work with strop passages.

Face-lather for shaving face; bowl lather for head shaving. I use a bowl to start both. I use a paste in the bowl for the face shave and add water into the brush then that onto the face to build lather but I make the full lather in the bowl to prepare for a headshave.

I have this stone its my first JNAT I bought it off a user from Badger and Blade. Cost me a pretty penny. Very good finisher. But I still find that I only get that really fine edge and the stiction from the razor to the stone on my ILR Imperial LaRoccia fine. I have a very complicated progression. I dont even count the passes anymore I just go by feel now. Could be between 15 and 30. Depending on the condition of the vintage razor I acquire. I typically bevel set on Norton 4k. Norton if the edge and spine needs to be reprofiled and it's in really rough shape. Then. Mizu Asagi JNAT Then Norton 8k. Then back to Asagi depending on polish and cut test of bevel. Then Naniwa 12k. Then ILR fine under running water. Then I strop .50 micron on balsa for about 50 passes. Then .25 micron for 60 passes, then strop on denim and mother's mag polish. Then .01 micron balsa for 80 passes. Then strop on linen, or paracord then horween then latigo. I always x stroke or circle bevel, and back bevel or strop on each stone progression. My edges are pretty good and very sharp. But depending on the steel and the bevel angle from more worn spines IMHO the edges tree top, pop hairs and cut and shave well. Some excellent. But I want to push it further to where the edge just effortlessly glides through my wiskers but comfortably. Like commercial sharp. What's your opinion? I've done about 50 razor restoration already.

Thanks for your demonstration. Here are specifications for Feather's five Artist Club razor blades: Professional Light (PL-20): 0.254mm blade thickness, 7.4mm blade depth, 0.6mm blade exposure in DX razor, 0.4mm blade exposure in SS/SR razors Professional Soft Guard (PSF-15): 0.15mm blade edge thickness, 8mm blade depth, 1.2mm blade exposure in DX razor, 1.0mm blade exposure in SS/SR razors Pro Guard (PG-15): 0.15mm blade edge thickness, 8mm blade depth, 1.2mm blade exposure in DX razor, 1.0mm blade exposure in SS/SR razors Professional (PB-20): 0.254mm blade thickness, 8mm blade depth, 1.2mm blade exposure in DX razor, 1.0mm blade exposure in SS/SR razors Professional Super (PS-20): 0.31mm blade thickness, 8.2mm blade depth, 1.45mm blade exposure in DX razor, 1.25mm blade exposure in SS/SR razors I prefer the Professional Super in a RazoRock Hawk V3 Open Comb single edge razor, which is more comfortable than starting a shave with a Feather Hi-Stainless DE blade. I normally end a shave with the Feather Hi-Stainless DE blade in an iKon Tech. It's very aggressive, but more comfortable when much of the beard growth is gone from the Professional Super. I haven't gathered the nerve to try shaving with a Feather SE replaceable blade straight razor (or a knock off).

I think anything with a blade attracts some weird boy brained men so all the culture and talk about things like knives and razors is polluted with this heavy influence of basically teenage male brains. So much bullshit involved. You don't need anything more aggressive than that 1k chosera, the reason the choseras are good is because if you notice the scratch pattern every single one of those chosera leave on the steel is top quality. Shapton is harder, less friable, slower wearing and still cuts just as good if not better. But the chosera has many great qualities the other lacks like having a very similar feel and experience to a traditional waterstone but the convenience of a hard slow wearing good cutting splash and go, and the one thing the chosera does best is the scratches they leave. This aspect it's better than shapton. Anyway look. For razors, I've fixed chips with polishing stones like 5k shapton pro. What you want for razors is a VERY FINE sharpening stone, then a finishing stone. That's all you need. The best stones for this are super stones because this is what they are for. If the razor is not chipped all you need is one stone at most. A strop is all you need. If the razor needs "bevel set" then I'd use something like a 4k shapton glass, which is the finest grit sharpening stone in that line, the next one up the 6k is a finisher. Or I would use a 3k chosera, which again is the finest sharpening stone in that line. Those are the 2 best. I would not use anything lower than that on any razor I own ever. From there, the best finishing stone I've ever seen and is a great value is the 12k super stone. That's all you need. From there you could strop on something like 0-.05 um diamond or whatever you like, then a hanging strop to convex it. My point is.. lots of idiots in razor world think you need 80 stones. You need 1 stone for razors. At most you need 2 stones. What you really need is a good strop. A good hanging strop, leather and denim or something like this. And you need 1 flat strop, I like to use balsa wood, and I like to diamond powder. With this you don't need any stones. I can set a bevel with just diamond powder on wood, easily too if you wanted, but I use stone. 5k shapton pro can set bevel and is also fine enough to skip 12k ss and go straight to the flat strop. I think its 1 insane anyone who puts a razor on anything below a fine sharpening stone. 1k chosera is the most aggressive I would ever agree to use, and even then you do not want to take it all the way to apex because the worst thing you can do is creating burrs on razors. Take it 90% to apex then switch to a finer stone, then a finisher, then strop. Or just use 2 stones, 1 fine sharpener like a 3k chosera, 1 finisher like a 12k SS. Then strops. This is all anyone needs to do anything for razor. Anyone that thinks you need more stones is crazy and not understanding reality This 320 grit is a course grinding stone made for fixing broken tools like double edge knives. It should never be used on something like a razor or even shears. This thing is for course grinding, not even for making sharp edges. Razors are so delicate, such little edge steel, and uses such easily abraded steel, you can use only 1 polishing stone to do everything for a razor, including create the bevel. What you will do to he razor with this stone is remove much steel fast and create terrible burr in the process, then you will be struggling to reduce or remove that burr for the rest of the time. Its silly, foolish
