Three cylinders. Many seem not to bother with the middle one at this scale.

Nice locos and video What gauge are they ? Coal used?
@mattseymour86375 жыл бұрын
Wow! Just shows the power of a small 3.5 loco!
@david197407 Жыл бұрын
they can be very powerful, it's all about getting the weight on the driving wheels to give the grip needed, it's often lack of grip due to lack of weight that lets the smaller engines down, as long as they are heavy enough & the weight is correctly balanced over the driving wheels they can have lots of power & pull some decent loads
@mattseymour8637 Жыл бұрын
@@david197407 Yes that's very true and I have a 3.5 inch loco and she has a fair bit of power just going up and down a small track but as you say you have to have good grip otherwise you can't get the traction.
@mattseymour86375 жыл бұрын
Lovely locos. Are these all 5 inch gauge?

I have been looking for a narrow gauge 3 I/2 locomotive to go with my roughly 1/12 th scale Victorian and Edwardian live steam industrial dioramas, your De Winton is ideal considering I live on Anglesey. So enjoyed your video and subscribed in case you show more

Very nice engine and railway. What coal do you use?

This is so wonderfully English. Driving a miniature version of some of the finest Victorian engineering, down a wobbly old lane, wearing cold weather clothes, to drink a pint of brown liquid in an ancient thatched building by a roaring fire.

Such a great clip of this 3 1/2" Narrow Gauge locomotive! Do you have any other clips exclusively of this locomotive on the ground level?
@foreversteam6 жыл бұрын
Fantastic railway & great video! There is a chap called Edward Hartwell who I think has a similar ground level railway. I think our ' 3 1/2" Narrow Gauge Ground Level Railways' Group that can be found on FB would be a really suitable group for him, don't know if you know him? We are having the first Mini-Steam up on a member's railway (Fred Cooper) and would very much like him to join so if you know him perhaps you could mention it to him?

I have just started a 3 1/2" Ground Level Group and am preparing to do the first 3 1/2" NG Ground Level Mini Meet in Thatcham, would love for this 3 1/2" Gauge Hunslet loco to attend. My group is the "3 1/2" Narrow Gauge Ground Level Railways" on FB.

That is a very nice engine, I wish I had one. I have 5" gauge Sweet Pea and some Ride On Railways stuff.Could I just ask what is the minimum radius that the engine went round, as well as what is the wheel base for the engine?Thank you in advance.

Hi, I don't know if you're a Facebook user but there's a 3 1/2" gauge community here: facebook.com/groups/100414680096911/ and we're rather taken with your line, 3 1/2" not being too common as a garden gauge. There is also the beginnings of a (free) 3 1/2" gauge society, see here: 3andahalfinchsociety.freeforums.net and here: www.threeandahalfinchsociety.com Do please get in touch (and, not surprisingly, that goes for any other 3 1/2" gaugers around the world too). Cheers, Stockers.

yes, the frames are extended a the rear on the RAILMOTOR, and the loco 'narrow gauge-ified'. the axle distance is as designed. a cracking design by don young in 5"g No.1 boiler on an extended No.2 chassis.
