I love this project! Keep up the good work. Maybe adding a cooling mechanism with air or water vapor or oil could help with the turbine overheating?

I have been thinking about designing a jet but based on the thinking in the smallest private jet engines like Williams FJ33 and P&W610f which are two-shaft turbofan engines. Yours seems to be along the thinking of engines used for model planes which I'm guessing will tend to be inefficient. The smallest turbofan engines are for planes around 2.5ton and each engine costs 1million dollars and it's possible to make planes 5x lighter than that which would need engines weighing about 15kg with 100kg thrust. Such that small private planes could have jet speed yet cost very little. Jets are after all relatively simple and a 15kg engine should not cost anywhere close to a million. I think 3D metal printing is a great enabler that makes the convoluted shapes inside the jet suddenly very easy. And good CAD software that can do the CFD calculations for a jet could be quite potent as well. Pick the blade shapes and angles. There is a great deficit in aviation in small planes, there are indiana jones propeller planes still, it's worse than the cuban car situation. A good small turbofan engine could instantly be a 100million dollar business.

Looks good boys! But you need kerosene or jet a1 fuel to get it to work properly! Your design is excellent, but it needs kerosene to work! Start with propane maybe but then switch ro kerosene! It Will start on kerosene alone but easier with gas. Maybe use pure propane instead also, butane is not that good. But, good job!!! So nice to see!

the engine needs pressure, try to slow down the air more by closing the holes in the exhaust diffuser that is discharging the air over the combustion chamber. slowing down the air by closing the exhaust hole the pressure will increase.

@@squidheist6897 Sounds like the starter RPM is good so I would say design issue or not enough fuel flow or pressure. Those small tanks have to go
@gundamnitpete
@gundamnitpete 12 күн бұрын
The run at 04:27 was self sustaining, the RPM was dropping but that's because his little gas canister couldn't produce enough gas. He just needs a larger gas supply, or a pump/liquid fuel. You can actually see that he's got the fuel canister turned upside down, to try to deliver more fuel to the engine. One thing you can do to maintain fuel pressure is place the gas canister in lukewarm water(NEVER hot water!). Using the gas naturally cools the canister and reduces fuel pressure, so the lukewarm water will help keep the canister pressure up. These little guys can be surprisingly gas hungry especially with fresh bearings. Fresh bearings are a little draggy, they'll reduce in friction over the next couple runs, and the engine will require a little less fuel to self sustain.

Bro you can heat the propane tank to maximise the output gas pressure
@burnologist229
@burnologist229 15 күн бұрын
Hello, I noticed your gas setup is using those small propane tanks if you want to move up to the larger tanks, I'd suggest purchasing a propane line, then making or buying a fully brass/copper cored plug for the line. The way I did this was quite simple. I drilled a 2mm hole in the plug, and then threaded it m2.5, M2.5 and M3 have the same Pitch but different diameter, which is good in this case because a steel m3 vented screw when inserted will provide a full seal as it has to press form 0.25mm of the softer material. Once the screw is in the plug you can couple it to your jet engine with a threaded pipe or long Nut.
@crypto602
@crypto602 16 күн бұрын
i hope you read to me, you need to increase gas pressure, you can heat the gas tank and reduce the gas line and the head help the butane to evaporate more fast (when you heat the butane comes out very cold).. take carefully bro..

Very nice and clean assembly, congratulations. However, I don't understand your choice not to make the diffuser with the inclined blades adjacent to the compressor, which are essential for directing the air flow. I also see the injectors that seem to spray towards the turbine. Instead they should be back flow to burn the fuel more efficiently. You probably also have the internal diameter of the injectors that is too large. It should be 0.8 mm or 0.6. Try making these changes and you will see that the engine will run without problems.

Your persistence with the project is admirable. I think the compressor diffusor needs some re-design as it not only needs the vertical guide vanes that you already has, but it is also missing the horizontal guide vanes which radiate out from the edge of the compressor to the edge of the stator, the vane would allow you to compress air effectively by changing the path of the air. Hopefully this can help. Also, try using a larger compressor as this compressor is way too small for a turbine of that size.

this is quite a small compressor for a turbine this size... try a larger one, it might work!
