Sophie barely survived this moment. Out the door and gone following a vote of no confidence by the orchestra.

What an appalling thing to do to cancel a world renowned pianist for stating that reporters in Gaza deserve protection. How much were the execs paid by lobby groups to do that ? Or worse , threatened ?

MSO became famous after cancelling a concert based comments from an artist based on empathy for victims of the Israeli attacks! How sad to see the MSO show so little empathy! Furthermore, you become complicit of the genocide perpetrated by the extreme-right government of Israel. That shows a cruel lack of judgement

Wonder why the MSO has closed the comments under its video "MSO Season 2025" ? Because they fear the backlash after they openly sided with the murder of journalists and the genocide in Gaza. Boycott the MSO until its leaders resign.

You don't serve music by siding with murderers. Here in Australia, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has canceled the performance of acclaimed pianist Jason Gilham after he dedicated a piece to the historically unprecedented number of journalists who have been killed in Gaza since October. The MSO called this dedication an "intrusion of personal political views on what could have been a morning focused on a program of works for solo piano," adding that the MSO "understands that his remarks have caused offense and distress" and offers a "sincere apology." Forever shame on this orchestra for supporting genocide and the murder of journalists.

Just heard that the MSO cancelled Jayson Gillham's performance because of "comments" he made during a recital. The over 100 journalists killed by Israel he had supposedly mentioned is simply a verified FACT, not just politics. Pull you heads in, MSO!!!!

Don’t buy tickets if you don’t support genocide. They cancelled a musician for dedicating a piece to the dozens of journalists killed in Gaza (with the pre approval of the MSO). After pressure likely from their donors, they cancelled all future concerts from the pianist. This pianist’s name is Jayson Gillham. Bravo Jayson ❤️🩹✌🏼

45:54 I don't think the student gets the idea of the stance. When the sound needs depth, you do need a firm stance to impose the idea. Rather than just casually standing there and trying to play nice, You kinda need to desperatlly squeeze out every bit of the string by pushing or pulling the bow, so will make it sounds deep and sorrow.

Vasily Petrenko is certainly one of the best of the younger generation of conductors. I’m disappointed that I can’t get tickets for his sold out appearance at this year’s (2024) Proms @ RAH/London as he’s conducting the RPO in Tchaikovsky’s symphonic poem, Francesca de Rimini, one of my favourite works from the Russian master.
