The problem I see is in long term economy. Are gibsons too expensive? I think so. Are those chibsons a good value? I guess. Is supporting all that China crap hurting US and European economy in the long run? Absolutely, it already does. Im supporting western economies whenever I can. But hey, whatever floats your boat.

your argument, "who has 5k to buy & burn on a guitar" is morally flawed. A 300$ knockoff isn't an alternative to anything at that price, & there are many excellent high-end guitars for much less than 5k anyway. Why even compare this to an actual LP? They have nothing in common aside from cosmetic appearance on camera. A more ethical comparison would likely be with some other guitar around the same price...no?

The trick is getting one with a maple top. Customs were mahogany tops way back when so if you've got a "'hog" top you're historically there. The one I just got had hot ceramic pickups, 12K+, with stainless back plates and brass covers, might sound decent but I already had Slash custom Probuckers. The tuners and the bridge were trash but I pulled everything but the strap buttons and the plastics.

I had a few and kept one. So, after you spend $250-$300, etc, ALL electronics, wiring and hardware got to go, lol. Easily, another $200. After that and a proper setup, gluing in several frets that were never put in correctly and fret leveling, etc, they're pretty good. I've done several gigs with mine.
@RJ_Groot7 күн бұрын
I have one too. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'd say it's not quite as nice as an epiphone inspired by Gibson series guitar but it comes pretty close. Same as you, mine needed a little bit of fret dressing but overall after it acclimated to my home it is a pretty fun guitar to play. One day I may bite the bullet and buy a real Gibson and then this one will just be a wall hanging. I think of it as a pretty cool three dimensional, playable tribute to Gibson. The electronics are not awesome. I may throw in some Zakk EMG pickups in as a fun project. Great project guitars too, on that note. It's a gamble buying these but you can get lucky.

I bought a black Chibson double neck. It's not too bad, there's a high fret on the 6 string neck and the hardware isn't great (although tuners are solid) and the pickups are not good, but that's all the stuff you'd expect to replace anyway. I bought it for a bit of fun and to learn how to swap pickups and do guitar work myself.
@kenichi4078 күн бұрын
news alert, gibson guitars have been priced the same since the 50's. look up something called inflation. to dumb it down, a high schooler would need to mow the same number of lawns today as he would have needed to back in 1959 to go to the shop and purchase a Gibson Les Paul new. the problem we have these days is we have so many more hobbyists who don't treat these as musical instruments, but rather a designer brand, and need to "fool" their friends as well as "convince" themselves they have the real thing. if not, why are are they still ordering these with the fake Gibson brand? same as all the Chanel, Prada, LV fake bags.... totally embarrassing.

@@adriankurt1872 if your paychecks do not account for inflation, but you're adamant in being in the market for an upscale guitar like a Gibson, you're in the wrong line of work. don't blame Gibson for that. so many people fail to realize Gibson is a company in the end of the day, not a philanthropic society. they need to adjust their prices for global supply chain and production costs. geez, did i really need to spell that out for you? go rock your chibby for all its worth.

@@kenichi407 Oh yes I forgot that Gibson pay's such good wages that their guitars had to double or even triple in price between 2011 and now. Oh wait they don't they pay minimum wage in their USA plant. Production costs my ass. It's just greed nothing more nothing less. It's pretentious douchebag's that still pay those prices that keep Gibson operating at all. And man you really dont know me so don't assume that I don't got the dough to pay for those guitars im just not willing anymore at those price's. I own 2 Gibson guitars from afforementioned years meaning around 2011. I even own at least 45 guitars if you want me to be more specific. I just won't support such predatory practices that Gibson does price wise. They're not that "upscale" to begin with they're pretty basic for what they cost. I can get any boutique builder build me something way nicer for that price even with a Gibson headstock and branding if they sell it to me under the counter which is not a problem after all in any country besides maybe the U.S. If they will continue down that path they will sooner or later price themselves out of the market and be out of business before they'll even notice. Oh and before I forget no wages ever can keep up with the inflation other than maybe CEO wages, dont know how somebody can be THIS disconnected from reality. Just my honest two cents in this matter and greetings from good 'ol germany :P
