If you wanted to remove flocking from plastic vs vinyl, would you use just the rubbing alcohol? Or that plus NON-acetone nail polish remover? Want to do this for the flocked Halloween cats from Target this year, but not sure what the material/sealant is underneath ...

@gracemacy6572 Sounds about right, goo gone may work too, just can't use the acetone or chemicals that say not for use on plastic, and it depends if it is painted plastic or colored plastic. I soaked a painted plastic horse in water and everything loosened including the paint once. It's a trial and error basis on something like that, where it hasn't been tested previously on that item. I always try something inexpensive that's similar first. Typically a thrift store find, so if it's ruined, it's not a big loss. Good luck on your project, it sounds fun!

Wow, it really does look almost like brand new. I've got an old Popple from my childhood that I'd be half tempted to restore... but at the same time its current well-worn state is almost like a record of all the years I've had it.

I found that using one of those mini tabletop vices work well for holding the doll to keep both hands free making it easier to work on the doll's hair. You can wrap the doll in a cloth to prevent any damage from the vice squeezing the doll. Love your video!

for an mlp- generation 4 with different proportions, after you take off the head, and not the neck plug is it re-attachable with glue or not? i want to take mine’s head off ti add water (water cuties 2014) and i dont want to if i need to glue.

Not sure, I would lean toward it needing glue potentially. Not one that I worked with enough to give you a definitive answer. I would check with someone doing custom g4's to get their opinion.

It’s not a pony, but I have a vintage flocked toy of Cat R Waul from Fievel Goes West that I’m slowly trying to deflock too, gonna use your video as a guideline to an extent. Thank you!

Was it damp or wet enough? Mine measured 250 degrees when I did it.

I'm not sure, but water is necessary. Also some dolls do have different hair, could be more delicate with a different heat threshold.

I tried to share a video here but apparently I do not know what I am doing. I have one pony that the ends are absolutely frizzy fried looking. Will this method work on that or will it have to be cut off? The boiling water method didn't seem to do much of anything

Would 70 percent rubbing alcohol also work, or does it have to be 91 percent? I plan on de-flocking some christmas clip-on antlers because I will be repainting them for a cosplay.

Rubbing alcohol is rubbing alcohol, but the percentage is less so it may take more effort because it is watered down.

If it hasn't stained or discolored the skin, rubbing alcohol works on that too.

Thank you for this video, trying to fix a poor yellowed cranberry muffin. She was stored near the sun, shes both sunfaded and likely covered in oils from the smokers house she came from. Please dont smoke if you own ponies.

This is very satisfying to watch! I just got a so-soft Shady whose flocking has worn off in random places so I’d like to try de-flocking her. (I’m sure she looks gorgeous beneath the yellowing fluff!) I’m curious though if it’s necessary to remove the tail when doing this? The acetone didn’t seem to hurt the mane of the pony in your video, so I’m wondering what the advantage of removing the tail was. (Just getting it out of the way? Haha.)

I remove it for cleaning anyway, plus just less fluff getting stuck in the hair. And being able to clean the flocking out of the hole.

Do you have to be super careful with it? I have a flocked toy I wanna remove the flock from but it doesn’t have any painting, so could I just get a toothbrush and acetone to remove it?

It depends on the toy, acetone eats plastic. This is vinyl. If it's vinyl with no paint, it should be an easy process. If it's plastic, you'll have a mess and it would ruin the toy.

If you're talking about the zip tie, yes it is visible on a glow n show, just like the current tail ring is visible. Hope that helps answer the question.
