Cool. Watch another channel then or learn to use fast forward. Literally everything I said was relevant and important so if you want to the cliff notes version of everything maybe PRECISION shooting isn’t for you. 🤷‍♂️

Awesome response! OK, When I say I like the more precise adjustments, I am talking about shooting tiny groups at 1-300 yards from a bench. I agree that mils work great at long distance. Personally, when using the same rifle both from a bench and for long range when I occasionally get the opportunity I think I still prefer moa, with that said I can easily do the math in my head to convert. It does take a bit longer, but again, I am not competing. If more of my shooting was long distance than it currently is, I can see where mils could be a better option.

In F-t/r (shot off a bipod) we shoot 20 round groups. My rifle will shoot 20 rounds at 100 yards into about 0.75 MOA. Most guys will tell you their guns shoot in the .2s or .3s but in practice they are shooting three or five round groups. I measure mine in twenty round groups because that’s a whole match. I see people chase shots believing it was the wind that got them, but their next shot will drop points too because it was actually part of that rifle’s group. But at the end of the day, a clean score is 1 MOA with accuracy in the ten ring. X’s are in 1/2 MOA. There are guys shooting 200s with 20Xs but it isn’t a given.

just found your channel, totally agree with you, was a long time MOA user, MOA is pretty much only for bench rest or known distance..I still use MOA for 22 BR...only because you need a lot of Magnification,, and generally cheaper cost,using a Burriss 8x40 MOA 1fp,,,but on every thing else its Mill...dialing for multiple distance is a pain..a lot more clicks..used to dial everything...now learning hold overs...also shoot 6.5..never new about the hack..will check it out..just got a Tikka Tac A1 to replace an entry level RPR that fell short (om Me) after 700 yds., shot the Tikka at range day,,was hitting 1000,,,but it was all set up and already ranged in, think they said ammo was Berger?..so no guessing on the shooter...saw a 16 yr old girl..first time shooter hit it also..now just need a scope for it, will check out your other for scope comparisons and reticles..im pickey on reticles..some just have way to much info

MOA guy here with some math. 1/4 MOA has a smaller angular resolution than 10th MIL. I think we can agree there. This is a fact angularly proven by what MOA are MRAD at the core deriving from the 360 degrees of a circle. Basic 6th grade math. NOW, the ability to SHOOT consistently to that difference is extremely EXTREMELY unlikely due to other variables. One's best grouping is, as you said, one's best grouping. More decimal places in an angle doesn't make one a more precise or accurate shooter. Great video and Great perspective with this series. Thanks for putting in the hours to make it happen!!!
@thepracticalrifleman
@thepracticalrifleman 7 сағат бұрын
The error could land you closer to your click on either system. Say perfect dope is half way between 1/4 MOA clicks, the 0.1 mRAD adjustment at 0.36 MOA would have been closer to the predicted correction. It’s really irrelevant for most shooters.

These bits can not be hardened steel like he says, I bought these thinking I was getting quality bits. I was using a torx t10 that slipped inside of a screw head, I was torquing to 25 inch lbs. thought I had stripped the head when on closer inspection I realized the spines on the bit were completely deformed. Really frustration considering what I spent on these.

So, the whole reason Mil is better than MOA is basic math/counting doesn't come easy to you? You're kind of bypassing the details to substantiate your point. There are 4 clicks typically to 1 MOA, and 10 clicks per Mil. So in your target example you'd be dialing 23 clicks using an MOA turret, and 16 clicks with a Mil turret. Not exactly 6 times as much as you're making it look. To be honest. You're dialing anyway, not really a lot of extra labor involved, and MOA gives you a more precision per click. At 600 yards one click with MOA is approximately 1.5 inches where one Mil click is around 2.16 inches. The biggest advantage to Mils to me is ranging which wasn't mentioned.....
@paramounttactical
@paramounttactical 2 күн бұрын
Lmao.., you’re right. It’s the math. 😂 I’ve been shooting professionally for over 20yrs, teaching both MOA and MIL for almost as long, can shoot both and teach both at a high level no problem. But you’re right. It’s because I’m dumb. You got me. That’s also why from SOCOM snipers to the top PRS shooters, all of them, without a single exception use MIL.

@@paramounttactical My intent was not to call you stupid lol The point was you're making it out like MOA is some complex, extra step, higher chance of user error type system. Just about anyone can comprehend MOA easier than Mil, especially new shooters. I mean the title of the video is "MOA sucks" I use Mil more than MAO, but honestly one is not clear as day better than the other. There's a thousand videos on youtube showing the difference, and pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of each and allow people to decide what's best for them. Point is, you've clearly shown what YOU prefer, I don't think you have actually shown that "MOA sucks" If I were to steer people away from anything, it would be an optic that uses a Mil reticle and MOA turret lol

I was told an interesting way of doing this but never seen it anywhere. Look through your rifle into a mirror and line the reticle up straight through the end of your barrel. Idea is your scope is now inline with bore and should be leveled. I kinda want to try it and see how it works.

My goodness the stupid shines brightest in the comments. I show you the principles and the exact tools I use to execute the principles. Can you do everything I show you without the tools? Sure. Is it a lot harder and are you more likely to end up with a bad result? Yes. Maybe you already have a gun vise or the equivalent of the other tools. OMG… $200-$400 is so much to spend on tools that will last a lifetime, you can use for a multitude of gun maintenance tasks, and save you thousands of dollars if you work on your own guns. 😱 I charge $150 for doing exactly what I shared with you here and I’m backed up on scope mounting for months. If you’re going to say retarded things in my comments, I’m just going to ban you. So wisen up. I think what you meant to say was “thank you for sharing this FREE valuable knowledge that you spent HOURS filming, editing, and putting together all so I could come and gratuitously bitch in the comments”

Was always curious about the turret caps being level or not. So many people say not to trust them. Other issue ive had is the wheeler level kit when placed on top of one another they were slightly different. Never used them after that. Probably should have sent them back and tried a 2nd lol Have been using the little wedge mount and verifying with plum and level and its always been good. Another problem is if you're reticle isn't perfectly level in your scope which i have never had but have read about even on high end scopes

Love the analogy of watching white belt vs black belt. I'm a medic and often volunteer to train new guys. I always lecture them on basic fundamentals because they see the advanced stuff and that's all they want to learn. What resources would you recommend to someone who is trying to learn the fundamentals of long range? I know a class would be great. But not all schools are created equal and traveling may not be possible. Are there books, videos, online courses that you would suggest? Do you offer the didactic portion of your school for purchase online?
