Wow😯I didn’t realize do and make was so complicated & English is my first language. I can’t explain the difference, we just know by experience. It seems like the same thing applies to yapmak and etmek. Thank you for doing this wonderful research. This is very helpful. Im a beginner of Turkish and I see new words and phrases.

DIFFERENCE OF ETMEK AND YAPMAK * NOUN+ETMEK=VERB (all together is a new verb) *the NOUN of ETMEK is not a seperate word. * you can not put WORD between “NOUN + ETMEK” * you can not add SUFFIX after the NOUN of ETMEK example; teşekkür etmek=to thank size çok teşekkür ederim. = I thank you very much. yardım etmek=to help o bize hep yardım eder. = he always helps us. teşekkür and yardım words did not take any suffix. so you can not say "teşekkürler ederim" it is wrong. teşekkür etmek=to thank, so how can you add plural suffix "to thank" verb you can say; "çok teşekkürler= many thanks". you can not say "yardımlar eder". it is wrong. yardım etmek=to help, so how can you add plural suffix "to help" verb there is not word between teşekkür and ederim. also there is not word between yardım and eder. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *YAPMAK= to DO, to MAKE, to BUILD *the NOUN of YAPMAK is a seperate word. * you can put WORDS between “NOUN + YAPMAK” * you can add SUFFIXES after the NOUN of YAPMAK ödev yapmak=to do homework ödevimi dün yaptım. = I did my homework yesterday. pasta yapmak=to make cake bu pastayı senin doğum gününe özel yaptım. = I made this cake specially for your birthday. WARNING: *Noun with Yapmak does not have to take suffix. but it can take suffix. *it does not have to take word between noun+yapmak, but it can take words between noun+yapmak. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SAME NOUNS WITH YAPMAK AND ETMEK HAVE DIFFERENT MEANINGS There can be some words that are used with both yapmak and etmek. but they have fully different meanings; Park etmek= to park arabayı park et= park the car Park yapmak = to build a park. Belediye buraya yeni bir park yapacak=The municipality will build a new park here - Banyo etmek = to process (photos) Banyo yapmak= to have a bath (but its correct Turkish form is "Yıkanmak") Fotoğrafçılar fotoğrafları banyo ederler = Photographers process photos Banyo yaptım = i had a bath

Thanks for the video, here is another tip that can also help. Being an Arab, I've noticed that ,generally, the noun added to etmek to create a verb is or Arabic origins. You can clearly see that in the list of Etmek verbs. But those added to yapmak are not. I hope this also help and add to this topic.

Excellent chice of verbs for students, great pace, funny images. The only thing which lacked in my opinion - it'd be better if the verbw were divided in groups of 7 or 8 and there were pauses in between with a page to review all 7-8 of the group every time. Otherwise, really brilliant stuff! Thank you!

Sorry to disagree on this one: Ağırlık etmek very much works like the phrase "Gölge etmek= to cast a shadow" . It means to cause to or be the cause of putting unwanted/undesired/extra weight on something. Imagine yourself swimming with arm floats and someone asks you to hold on to you. You would probably say this: "Üzgünüm olmaz, ağırlık yaparsın". Bir şeyi tartmak: 1. To measure the weight of stg, 2. to weigh up something. Gayretleriniz için teşekkür ederim.

4 WAY VOWEL HARMONY (I, İ, U, Ü) (pronouncing closed version of last vowel) when you add suffix with closed vowel (ı i u ü) (such as subject suffixes) then, suffix will be closed version of last vowel, you do not have to think about which vowel to add because without changing your mouth shape (back-front and rounded-unrounded shapes) just closing your mouth a little will make sound of last vowel's closed version. for example if you close your mouth a little as you are pronouncing "a" it will sound " ı ", " o " will be " u " " ö " will be " ü " " e " will be " i " example: sen=you, suffix form of sen is with closed vowels “ sın, sin, sun, sün Nasıl = how Nasılsın? = how are you? Türksün= You are Turk Doktorsun= You are doctor İyi=good İyisin= You are good

Etmek turns noun into verb Noun + etmek = fully a verb, so noun here is not a noun anymore, so the noun can not take suffix noun+yapmak = here only yapmak is verb, other noun is still noun, so it can take suffix
