Hi, im planning on a trip to japan in dec 2024. I am planning on renting an mx-5 to have fun driving/cruising at night in tokyo. Do you have any tips & advice on this? Thank you.

Is it legal to use a non airbag steering wheel?
@faristengku62472 жыл бұрын
In Japan, apparently it is not illegal. In fact it doesn't even affect my insurance premium. I assume this depends on the country one lives in.

@@faristengku6247 how is it do you recommend it ?
@faristengku62472 жыл бұрын
@@hypnotechno I personally tried the Autoexe sports steering wheel, Momo Tuner and Renown Chicane. Currently using the Renown Chicane. The Autoexe wheel was OK I guess. It's actually not too bad but it was not what I was looking for. The Momo Tuner was pretty good. The rim is pretty thin but I enjoyed it. The 3-9 hand position grip suits it well. My favorite so far is the Renown Chicane. It has a deep dish, so I get more reach, I like the simple and elegant design but it took me a while to warm up to it feel-wise. After a couple of going back and forth between it and the momo currently driving with the Renown. I don't really have any preference between thin or thick grip but for me it's a combination of your ideal image or expectation of your car's steering feel, you car's actual driving dynamics, steering wheel aesthetics , steering wheel size (diameter), the grip diameter in relation to your own hand shape and size and also material quality. So it's really difficult to really recommend any specific size. I'd suggest if you can to just try it out before you buy. If you cannot, I'd just buy by the looks and reputation and go in with no expectation and enjoy it. Hope this helps.

What the penalty for speeding in Japan?
@faristengku62473 жыл бұрын
Depends on how fast, and whether you're on the highway or otherwise. It depends case by case. You either get a few thousand yen worth of fine or you can go straight to jail. Really depends.

The MX-5 is the best car for those narrow roads, today we had a tour with 4 Roadster and 1 RF from Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen), Belgium to Luxembourg and back. 280km small narrow roads, fantastic.

@@faristengku6247 I've only drove it once and I'm already hooked on it, found these videos after a friend telling me about the Japanese models. I heard it in the other video, but what does the car say when you start it up?
@faristengku62473 жыл бұрын
@@SDM09Tiny In Japan's highway, there's this thing called ETC and it's an automated toll system. People often fit a device in the cars to be able to use the system. It's basically a hand-sized etc card reader that is registered to your credit card. So, every time I start the car up, it's basically telling me either there is a card in the card reader or there isn't any as a reminder before going on journeys. It can be turned off, but I kind of don't mind the reminder just in case I'll be taking the highway. Thanks for the question :)

How is the soundsystem?
@faristengku62473 жыл бұрын
The Bose system is fine for what it is. Its not fantastic but isn't what you'd call a "premium" experience. It has some character but details aren't great. Soundstage is relatively poor and sound separation is not great. It has a bunch of bass and music that relies on bass is pretty enjoyable. It's a noisy car as well so the noise floor is pretty high. It's a serviceable sound system but don't expect too much out of it.
