Religion is a man-made artefact and as imperfect as man. So the gods men make are also limited by their limited knowledge. A few true seekers are able to rise above our human limitations to catch a glimpse of the Ultimate Reality. The rest of us will label ourselves as something and fight with those organised under other labels.
