I’m really glad you got this doll 😊 She is very pretty and deserving of an articulated body 😁 I totally agree with you about the missed opportunities that Mattel keeps having with releasing Barbies inspired by male artists instead of giving us a new fantastic Ken doll, just as easily as they are giving a Barbie doll 🫤 It’s quite frustrating when I’m trying to build my Ken collection and they refuse to give us even half as many Ken dolls as they give Barbies 😤 and when the Ken dolls that are released are in such low quantities, the demand is high, so the second-hand market sellers make the industry ridiculously expensive and impossible to attain 😫 Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always love my Barbie dolls, but I’d really like to have more guys in my collection, and at a reasonable price (I’m looking at you Ken Couture)🤨 While the outfit looks good on the doll, I also would have expected more flashy details the way Juan’s costumes show online 🙂 But thankfully, this allows for mixing with other pieces since it is so simple 😊 And though her hair is a simple up ponytail, I’ve seen other content creators take her hair down and it’s absolutely gorgeous in the restyles that were done. They didn’t even have to reroot her or anything drastic like that. Just took it down and curled it a bit. Then, BAM 💥 gorgeous ❤ I’m really hoping to get her someday so I can have fun too, styling her and taking some pics of one of my new favorite faces ✨💖✨

Since she’s a Black Label Barbie, I’m thinking she’ll be restocked very soon. Kinda how Mariah Carey Barbie got sold out pretty quick, but was restocked eventually and now she’s not too rare. I’m sure you’ll get her too soon. 😊 Yeah, I feel your pain. I really want to build up my Ken collection too. But there are so few Ken releases this year and most of them aren’t very good. 😔 I’ve given up on relying on Mattel for good new Ken releases and I’ll probably just get older Ken releases instead. I am so starved for male dolls in my collection, like I am *THIS* close to buying boy dolls from Integrity…but then I remember they cost $300 overall if I factor in shipping costs and taxes, so I quickly shoot down that idea. 😅 And I’m glad you agree with my points here. While I do prefer a Ken, if they’re going to go for a genderbent Barbie, then they need to do it right. It would have been nice if she was in a female Mariachi outfit, but they also didn’t do that here , so that makes me even more frustrated, honestly. 😭 Still though, I do love her. They can dress Odile in a trash bag, and I’ll probably still get her. 😅 And you’re right, the hair actually looks pretty good if you let it down. Personally I’m thinking of getting one that I can boil-wash and customize. But of course, I have to wait until she’s in stock again.

Yes, I agree that it should be a Ken doll, though I am not familiar to Juan Gabriel. I bought her just because of the cute Odile face and the clothing is pretty good. Btw, always love your backdrop for the video.

When I reroot a doll I always cut the hair in usually 1/4 but sometimes 1/2 depending on the length before I start rooting just because the hair is always way too long for my preference and I feel like I waste hair when I try to reuse the hair that I cut off. I’ve found one pack of hair usually reroots 3-4 dolls for me. Also because you used hot glue just beware that overtime the hot glue may not continue to stick to the hair as well as it is now. My first reroot I used hot glue and after about 2 years the hair started falling out but part of that could also have been because I didn’t have an air conditioning so the temperature in my room got up to temperatures of 80f degrees in the summer and in the winter as low as 64f sometimes. I now use any fabric glue from the craft store it just depends on what is cheapest and so far I don’t have any problems with it.

I bought this doll at Walmart back in the day. As a lover of ancient Egypt, buying her was a must. I was super obsessed with her and I still am. I love her crown, bracelets and neck piece. I do wish they would've added some earrings to her look and that her shoes would've been a little more authentic. She is still one the most beautiful and unique Barbie dolls that I own. I named mine Nefertari. Unfortunately mine is not in the best condition, but I still love her. ❤

I would have been absolutely OBSESSSSSSED with this doll if you'd handed it to me as kid. As it stands I don't really collect dolls as an adult, but I still think she's absolutely gorgeous!

I’m still so amazed by how many dolls I come across in my research that I like are in your collection and we have the same opinions on them 😁 (great minds think alike😉) The Dolls of the World collection is so iconic and the Princesses of the World collection was one of my favorite collections with this doll on my checklist to get 😊 I always loved how uniquely different these dolls looked compared to other dolls of the time 🙂 I love a good face that stands out ❤ I’m also surprised by the microbraids on her and why they chose not to use them with any dolls besides collector dolls before 2020 like you mentioned 🤔 They’ve made so many sales ever since they started making play line dolls with regular hair types, instead of just silky straight basic hair 🫤 I tend to be drawn to the textured hair since it gives some of them so much personality and adds to their individual beauty 💗 Besides that, you have a gorgeous model with an amazing outfit and I hope to add her to my collection someday too ✨💖✨

@@Ms.D-loves-minis3 Thank you Ms D! I’m glad you love the Princess DOTW too! 😄 This line was just something else. I remember wanting them badly back in the day. I don’t think I’ll be getting more of them-can you imagine, the amount of shelf space I would need to house 2 dozen dolls in ball gowns?! Maybe it’s for the best 😅 But outside of the Princess collection, there are other DOTW that I want. I know right, unfortunately Mattel didn’t really care much about hair diversity during this time period. 😕 you have no idea the LENGTHS I had to go through to give my dolls textured hair. I ruined a lot of dolls from the experience, but I also learned a whole lot about doll hairstyling. 😆 But gladly attitudes changed eventually and I’m glad we see the diversity we see today. While Barbie still has problems nowadays, at the very least she’s doing diversity better than she ever did before

@@asherbarbara9 I totally understand that struggle with giving your dolls a little bit of textured hair 😁 I still do it today when I don’t feel the hair she has is right for her 🙃 My husband just smiles and says “That’s nice” and then tells me I can’t buy any more dolls 😆 when he knows he’s the one texting me pics of dolls to make sure I don’t already have her before he buys me another one he found on sale 🤪 He spoils me way too much 😊 But thankfully, like you said, we have a few more options now, and a little less stress when styling our dolls for their photo shoots 😉

(Sorry for the incoming rant and slight NSFW, I have very strong thoughts of certain aspects of the doll community.) As a history buff I am a DOTW supremacist. I don’t understand why folks complain about wanting “diversity” then whine when other cultures are actually represented. It tells me they don’t really wanna learn anything about the world, they just want to feel they’re accomplishing something as they sexualize these literal pieces of plastic.

@@madamplatypus313 Oh I agree with this 100%. 😊 There are some people in the doll community that like to complain for the sake of complaining. Most of these people only ever purchase playline dolls and could never even purchase anything collector even if they wanted to. So they nitpick and sour-grape the things that they can’t have. While yes there are some DOTW releases that might warrant criticism here and there, for the most part DOTW has done more good than harm. Unfortunately, it’s easy to pick on DOTW because it represents nations and cultures so things like that can easily be sensitive. A lot of the criticisms of DOTW are honestly just fake outrage, from my experience. Complaining for the sake of complaining, as I’ve said. Which is why I usually pick and choose the collectors and accounts I interact with. I’m very much a pariah in the doll community, and I don’t really mind that. I’m content just staying in my little corner of the internet than listen to whiny, entitled so-called ‘collectors.’

I love Barbie Style! My favorite from these 3 would be Plaza Core, which is not very often the usual taste of Mattel. Wish we can see more of Barbie Style fashion pack next year, or maybe we can have the fashion pack for Ken as well under this line.

I totally agree that this Ken doll is truly a DOLL 🤩 This was definitely when they cared about the dolls, stepped up the design on the sculpts and made them more realistic and appealing 😊 I hated ALL of the previous designs as a kid and was so excited when new ones finally came out 😁 but since I wasn’t actively collecting then, I’m now trying to make up for lost time 😌 I really wish they’d use this Ken face more often because he’s quite the looker 😉 Besides that, the fashions are incredible compared to what they’re giving us today 🫤 too bad you can’t remove the clothes easily or rebody the dolls to get the full playability or social media experience 😑 But overall, these are very beautiful dolls (minus the annoying rose😖) and I’m so glad you have them in your collection ✨💖✨ btw, gorgeous background for the Tango theme and definitely the best part of the video 14:16 😆

I couldn’t believe I found a good deal for this set…on Amazon of all places. Plus free shipping! 🥹 I agree, the production quality during this time period was so incredible. Modern collector dolls could never! I don’t appreciate the lack of closures though. 😅 If I had any sewing talent I’d totally give them new closures myself. Oh and I’m glad you noticed the backdrop! I just discovered these and I love them. 😆 It moves too if you have a fan nearby, but sadly I couldn’t turn the fan on for most of the video because it gets picked up by my audio. They come in a lot of different colors, textures, and shapes, so MAYBE you’ll see me use another one of these in the near future… 😉

@@anthonytin9973 Oh actually there is a modern version of the Tango Ken 😃 and it debuted on Barbie Basics #16. It’s been used on a couple of dolls like the green-haired BMR1959 Ken, King of the Crystal Cave, as well as some of the Twilight Kens, though overall he’s still very rarely used. The updated version is handsome too, but it doesn’t have the same charm as this one with the old neck joint.

I regret not adding the pink outfit to my order now, mainly for that puffer, but I was turned off by the faux leather that ALWAYS cracks. I do think the necklaces would look better painted gold to match the watch and bag chain. ♥

Desiree looks amazing in the pink, especially with that color lipstick that she wears 😊 It’s too bad that the accessories aren’t better quality to make the outfit look next level. With the amount that you spend on the fashion packs, fabric bags and shoes would be a huge improvement 😉 The model in the plaza core looks like she walked out of a magazine 🤩 simply stunning 😍 Thankfully they gave her a real beret and not a plastic one 😊 but it’s a shame that you have to touch up the accessories with polish to make the colors stand out better 🫤 You did an amazing job ❤ The tennis core model is gorgeous 🤩 and it’s so cool that you added the tennis racket with the ball to her ensemble to complete the look ☺️ I’m so glad you were able to reintroduce these models back into your collection because they are so beautiful ✨💖✨

Desiree especially is my most precious piece here ‘cause she has a unique screening that was never ever replicated in other releases. And I know, right? There are certainly a lot of questionable decisions when they made the accessories. I mean, they made a “Tenniscore” pack WITHOUT a tennis racket? 😅 But I truly did enjoy all the packs here overall.

Great review, First thing I did was changing the body to MTM which seems to be a common theme. The only thing I did't like are the shoes but, of course, that is a design choice and can be easily changed. The cartonish face - oh well. It is an aquired taste but I guess you will get to like it. This first in a serious is a great doll and I am looking forward to the second release. I most probably would have chosen ebay, if they didn't send to my country. Enjoy the doll.

Fantastic video! Really appreciate the detailed look at this doll. I’m a Ken collector, but have held back from getting him because the sculpt looks like botched plastic surgery (those lip injections!). That and the hair are giving circuit party twink, lol. But the outfit looks really well made, so maybe I’ll give in and get him after all…😏

I’m so sorry you are dealing with scalpers due to the Mattel changes ☹️ If I could help you out as being your proxy somehow, I’d do it. No one should be taken advantage of when you’re just trying to get a little bit of happiness 😔 Scalpers can be so brutal sometimes 😖 I too am struggling to find several dolls on my wishlist at a decent price when dealing with the second hand market 😑 Just to name a few, I love the PTMI dolls and the Fashion Fever dolls and fashions, but finding them at a decent price for me is a huge challenge 😒 but I remain hopeful 😉 But even still, you now have a fantastic looking model in your collection, with several amazing fashion pieces (including your added touches)☺️ These are possibly the best pieces I’ve seen in YEARS 😁 I just wish they’d chosen different shoes 🫤 definitely not my first choice 😐 But I’ll definitely get this gorgeous model one day (like most of my dolls), when the demand is much lower, and the price is more reasonable ✨💖✨

And sometimes I do get lucky. ‘Cause really though, some scalpers have the nerve to charge 200% or more for a NEWLY released doll. And they even charge like $50, $60, $100 for shipping but in reality they just ship it with the cheapest USPS shipping.😤😤😤 And eBay does nothing to regulate this. Oh and I do hope you get the dolls you want too! Just so you know,I used to collect the Fashion Fever dolls in my teens back in the day. You will not be disappointed, believe me. 😆 Quality and style was absolutely amazing then. Their fashion packs had mannequins for chrissake that’s how good it was! I’m actually trying to get my hands on a few of them again, but we’ll see… 😊
