Well that sucks. Why would any manufacture make a watch you can't wind? What if I remove it at bed time or I only wear it periodically? That means I have to set the date and time every time I wear it and wave my hand around like a lunatic. That makes it an undesirable choice.

I have exactly the same silver model. Just sent it off to tag heuer for gaining/losing time while wearing it and they’re sending it back unrepaired. “Parts no longer available.” Should I take it to a qualified watch repair shop or find someone to mail it to?

That's lazy from TAG, i'm sorry to say. Parts are available for these and any watchmaker can quickly and easily do a movement swap in one of these watch. Go independent after checking reviews for one near you. It is not an expensive movement

This is a great antique Longines pocket watch! It will have had a mineral glass crystal originally, and they do not discolour over time. The slightly yellowed crystal is a replacement made from celluloid (cellulose nitrate), and it should be replaced. The celluloid crystal off-gases corrosive gases, causing the hands to become corroded/rusted, and with time the corrosion will spread to the cannon pinion, motion works and the rest of the movement itself. A modern acrylic crystal (for durability) or mineral glass crystal (if originality is the priority) should be fitted to this watch, and it isn’t expensive to have this done. The early form of lever escapement seen in this watch is a right-angle or tangential lever escapement, where the pallets are at right angles(tangential) to the escape wheel. The modern form of the lever escapement is called a straight line lever escapement, because the pivots for the balance wheel, the pallet fork and the escape wheel all align to form a straight line.

I’m looking at buying one of these trying to figure out the value. I offered $400 of the dome and it looks like one has traded for $495. It’s got the original bracelet on it but B&P. I’ll have to see but that black dial really is stunning in person. You took down your price on the website but I’d be curious what yours sold for.
