It's easier for people whenever you're doing something to just do it slowly and talk as you're doing it instead of pausing for a minute and a half and talking about what you're going to do that is a big waste of time

I had a friend of mine that told me he was going to help me put in the new water pump on my 06 Ford Taurus and literally the last minute he bailed told me it would take him almost 7 hours and he would have to put it on a lift at the only way to do it and obviously I can see right here you don't have to put it on a lift

thanks for this video. it saved me some time. i forgot wher the short brace went and your video shows it goes on the pump to the ac compressor.... not sure why it's needed but i put it back.

When you put the gasket on can you use silicone?
@bentnickel74876 жыл бұрын
You don't need it. You won't be able to regulate the thickness of silicone and it will be lumpy if you use the gasket and silicone. The paper or metal gasket is the same thickness front to back and I suspect these other folks on here with leaky pumps used an uneven silicone seal with gaps.
@truckingman39286 жыл бұрын
Indian head gasket is what u use not silicone
@Chris-iz2zh3 жыл бұрын
You either use gasket paste specicifically for the coolant or it the pump came with the gasket then use that. These guys dont know what there talking about

The producer of this video did not follow up with the replacement of the water pump. My question to him is, "was this a 2002 or 2006 Taurus"? You have it listed as both.
@DeiHarper93616 жыл бұрын
Bent Nickel 2000-2005 are the same, I'm not exactly sure what was changed in the 2006-2007.
@bentnickel74876 жыл бұрын
Lambochaser Since this posting I found the water pump is basically the same from 1996-2007 on the OHV and DOHC 3 L. engines. Of course, the 3.4 L. SHO is a completely different engine.
@DeiHarper93616 жыл бұрын
Bent Nickel okay, I've been told that something changed in the 06-07 models. I'm not sure why they thought that. Obviously someone told them the same. Thanks for clearing it up for me.
@bentnickel74876 жыл бұрын
I've had several 3.0L OHV engines and that rust color all around the overflow bottle and firewall is an indication you're neglecting the cooling system. The coolant in those OHV engines should be replaced every other year. The overflow reservoir, the heater core, in and out hoses to the water pump and the firewall bypass hose are corroded with that rust colored sludge. Within a year, the heater stops producing heat and backflushing doesn't help. By that time, the radiator, radiator hoses and even the thermostat have to be replaced. In this video, after replacing the water pump, steam clean the engine to remove that red color and trade that car for something else or you're in for warped heads and a huge repair bill. These iron engines and iron heads are reliable as long as you look after the coolant.

Justice Escobedo if you get an answer could you help me because I have a leak near my water pump as well
@DeiHarper93616 жыл бұрын
It could be the radiator, that's what my problem was, but I waited too late to get a new radiator and it caused a couple more problems. The water pump, thermostat to be exact.
@styles9506 жыл бұрын
Where is it dripping?
@lacucaracha926 жыл бұрын
It could be the timing cover gasket. Have seen it quite often just like GM 3800 engines. You can put a UV dye in the cooling system and using UV light and glasses you can more accurately find the source of the leak.
@SGDeGalvez5 жыл бұрын
its the timing chain cover gasket. The water pump is attached to it. be prepared to replace the timing chain cover because mine was pitted very badly.

Thanks for the video! Helped me see what I was getting into before I fixed one for a first time driver. I'd like to add that in my case I couldn't get the bolt that had the threads for the nut on the top of the bracket for the AC out because the tensioner pulley was about an 1/8 of an inch in the way. I took the 15mm bolt holding the pulley to the tensioner out and I was able to take the pulley off and slide that bolt right out. It also gives you better access to the lower bolt on that bracket. Just the pulley on the tensioner not the whole tensioner.

cant get the Belt Tension T45 bolt out, any suggestions
@digitaldevotionpublication30397 жыл бұрын
You're not supposed to take it OFF. You use the tensior to move the move out the way.
@MoparWade4407 жыл бұрын
Digital Devotion Publication you are correct that you shouldn't take out the T45 but my tensioner pulley was stopping another bolt from being fully removed. I had to take the 15mm bolt in the tensioner pulley out and the pulley itself off to get it out.
