Hi Leo Im from Brazil and I love gojira and now I am starting to love your band Oria, I also have a lot of doubts about how to sing like Joe, I know how to do frys scream and actually learning false chord, can you record a tutorial for this vocal? Continue this dude🤘🇧🇷

Hey Rafael, thank you for commenting and for your kind words about my content and band, I appreciate them! I have to ask you, what is your experience with singing? Are you just starting out? If you are, I would definitely recommend learning how to sing clean, first (with "clean" meaning regular singing like for example Frank Sinatra, Beatles etc). Go to a professional vocal coach and they will teach you the fundamentals of proper breathing, projection and placement! It will be safer and more sustainable for you to transition into more distorted vocal techniques. I wish I had done that! I went in to death metal vocals first AND THEN I tried to learn how to sing clean. Also, I am not a professional! A lot of things that I do are not very safe for the voice. I have improved my technique over the years (especially with the new Oria album that's gonna be out next year ;) ) so it is a bit safer now. With that out of the way, since you asked about Gojira's vocals here's one way I go to approach them. Please bear in mind that it is not a safe and sustainable technique. Take it easy and warm up before you try anything. Basically I sing a comfortable clean note. As I'm singing I squeeze my core muscles as if I am pooping or lifting a heavy piece of furniture. This engages my false vocal chords. The false chords are responsible for the distortion. Add the grit gradually, do not overdo it. Mouth shape is important. Look at this picture! ( www.alisontoon.com/m/-/galleries/music/gojira/gojira-coa-2016/-/medias/89ba148a-e543-47a2-8faf-8c725cfc36b4-joe-duplantier-vocals-and-guitar-gojira) copy Joe's mouth shape from this pic for certain vowels. It's important for deepening the sound. However, do not try and base your entire sound out of one vocalist. That is what I did in the early years of my vocal journey. Just because you don't sound like Joe Duplantier or Corey Taylor, or Will Ramos or whatever, don't get discouraged. No voice is the same! Focus on finding your own voice. Find Rafael's voice not Joe's. Don't worry about sounding like a certain vocalist. You can learn things from them but don't base your vocal sound around their voice. You can also have a look at this video for vocal tutorials regarding distortion (provided that you know some basics about clean singing) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYDYloGHrpuAkM0 Good luck, have fun :)

@@leoplat8318 Leo, thank you very much, your words really helped me think about it, I would say I'm not even a beginner because I just learned how to do frys screams, I'll definitely look for a professional, I don't know anything about singing so I'm definitely getting ahead of myself, Thank you very much for opening my mind about my identity, man your answer helped me a lot, thank you very much, man I can only repay you by showing some bands from my country...try:Project46, Tonelada, Crypta, Sujera, Black Pantera, Gangrena Gasosa, Ratos de Porão, Drowned, Torture Squad, Gloria Rock...

To paraphrase Dr. Doofenshmirtz: if I had a nickel for every “alien contact” scene that I’ve seen with Meshuggah music added on KZbin, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s badass that I’ve seen that twice!
