It would be about an hour for adults. It’s takes longer with kids. I would use the main trail up to the other lakes instead. They look better and no creek crossing is required.

Great job! I'm going back this summer and will be attempting this climb. Did you go down the stairs, or back down the trail? How long did it take? Thanks for the video!
@bartoloniorst3 жыл бұрын
The stairs are illegal so we didn’t go down them. I have been told they are safer than most hard trails on the island. The trail took us around 7 hours. It has a few rope sections and can be muddy. It would be dangerous in rainy weather. Recommend boots or trail runners and at least 2L water.

Lulumahu Falls is not open to the public and it is illegal to access it at any time. Anyone attempting to reach the falls is trespassing and subject to citation by the Honolulu Police Department. The land surrounding Lulumahu Falls is located on a protected watershed managed by the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS). The area supports Oahu’s fresh water system, which supplies the drinking water resources for more than 1 million people on island. As such, the BWS does not permit access of any kind so that the watershed may return to a more pristine state. Those cited are required to make a court appearance and may face fines up to $2,000, community service, and/or up to six months in prison. As you plan your outdoor activities on Oahu, please respect the island’s fresh water resources by not intruding onto protected watershed land. Announcements regarding closures of or conditions on public trails managed by the State of Hawaii may be found online at hawaiitrails.hawaii.gov.

At the time we did hike this, we had a legal permit. It appears this is no longer allowed. The hike has many trail offshoots and can be confusing. If we went in the wrong areas, I apologize. At no time did we approach the reservoir, facilities, or equipment. I fully support restoring the area to pristine conditions.

How long did it take total ?

Most people can get to the lookout in an hour. It took a us longer with small kids

How long did it take you guys to get there? Also is there signs that show you how to get there? Planning a trip soon. Thanks
@bartoloniorst3 жыл бұрын
You need a permit to hike legally, but it covers 5 people and only cost a couple bucks. There are flags and/or obvious trail the whole way. Multiple routes at point, but everything ultimately ends at the falls. Took about an hour to get ton e falls with small kids. I did it alone in less than 30 minutes a couple years ago. Not a hard trail, but muddy and wet at times.

Sorry for late reply. The lava tube is next too Lanai Lookout parking (google has it marked). The arch trail is near blowhole. AllTrails has it marked well.
