Thank you for your videos. They have been very helpful.I don’t have Jantek windows, but my house, which I bought new, had windows with constant force, balance stops, and most of them broke. I had to buy new balance stops from the manufacturer, but I couldn’t figure out how to replace the existing broken stops until I watched your videos so very helpful. Thank you so much.

9 out of 10 times people will put in a hopper. Why is that? I've heard they are more energy efficient than the slider, is this true? Personally I just like the look of the slider over the hopper. If its more prone to leak air though, I guess I could get hoppers to replace my current windows.

I repair windows for a living. I have worked with many different manufacturers of vinyl windows. I have never seen a cut out to remove the balance. ever! you need a set of jamb spreaders. current cost from 165.00 to 200.00 per set.

We are told in our modern History that glass windows were first used in 100a.d by the Romans .. Book of Mormon Ether 2:23 And the Lord said unto the brother of Jared: “What will ye that I should do that ye may have light in your vessels? For behold, ye cannot have windows, for they will be dashed in pieces” God-2500b.c.

@JantekWindows
@JantekWindows 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your interest and comment. Unfortunately, because there are variables such as overall unit size, square footage of the glass, where on the glass the temperature is taken, and the window design itself, there is no way to give actual numbers. The video was provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of insulated windows with something that visually reacts to heat. We hope this helps clarify our intent. Curious, you mention here that using aluminum spacer is a bad thing and you don't recommend it, but the NFRC lists that you use an Aluminum-Butyl Composite spacer.
@JantekWindows
@JantekWindows 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment Greg! Have you some expertise in window design? Welcome aboard and we look forward to your further participation, and expertise, on our Videos! Just to correct you on this matter Jantek uses a warm edge spacer (certified as A8-S) on all of its products. Aluminum Spacer systems are certified as A1-S or A1-D and are totally aluminum spacers, meaning aluminum spacers have full contact to the glass on both sides and therefore not not "warm edge." You are obviously confused on the difference because the vast majority of high performance warm edge spacers, including Jantek's, are a buildup of composite insulators around a corregated aluminum core (for structural rigidity) , the "warm edge" means the composite insulation dramatically decreases thermal conductivity and ensures that aluminum never touches the glass. Hope this clears things up for you! Thanks again.
@gregcorwin8316
@gregcorwin8316 2 жыл бұрын
@@JantekWindows Thanks for the reply Frank. And yes, while I have had some experience in window design primarily structural and glazing, I wouldn't claim expertise in that area. I'm not really familiar with you guys and honestly I was having a little fun when I commented on using an "aluminum spacer". Actually you guys have some very nice energy performance numbers per NFRC. However I would respectfully disagree that the vast majority of warm-edge spacers are a buildup of composite insulators around a corregated aluminum core. I would reference Intercept, Cardinal stainless steel, Superspacer, and Duralite as examples of warm-edge spacers that don't fit that definition, but are widely used products.

Hi Blue...thanks for your comment. That's a huge range for price. Make sure the scope of work (product type , energy performance, structural performance, Installation scope, warranty and the integrity and qualifications of the contractor actually doing the installation etc.) is the same on all five quotes. And be sure that scope of work meets YOUR objectives for your project.... once the SOW playing field is level (at this point we are inclined to think it probably is not) ...then the price should dictate your choice of companies. check out our videos on "the five things you need to know before purchasing replacment windows" kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2nXmHeght-cb6M and "How to choose a replacement window contractor " kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2nSlIiCYrp8l80 Let us know how you ultimately make out!
