Been fishing Lake Erie for years - getting tougher to handle bigger boats and big trolling rigs as a now 70 year old. Want to downsize boat and start hitting Ohio's inland lakes - finding so many to choose from in my research. Gonna be smaller fish overall but, on light tackle, I expect to have a blast. Thanks for a great vid and "tight lines" gentleman.

Where you actually casting clear out past the first lock and if so what’s the setup, I was there yesterday with 15 pound braid and could only get around 3 foot from the first ledge

Finding this video late, i am salt life through and through, since i was in diapers, florida native. This ohio fishing is new to me but im learning. Got the bass dialed in where i live. Planning an ohio river trip. Thanks for the excitement. Great job guys.

Were you moving at all when you were catching them at the dam? What speed were you trolling at further down away from the dam? I am trying to get into some trolling myself.

I used to catch big hog walleye down there on the West Virginia side in Newell 20 some years ago had a great time with my friend catching eyes and saugeyes. Fished of the Dam wall and down on the rocks great memories

Thinking about buying some land/cabin in the wheeling/moundsvil area just for the fishing. The variety of species in the Ohio river is unheard of compared to here in the west coast

We tried for a while it just nukes the batteries. Too much current have to run it on 7 constantly.

How the boat handle in waves. I was looking at crestliner but then I saw they just have 3.5* dead rise and I want to be able to take my boats out for a little inshore fishing. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations for me? Thank you

I've never had fears about taking on water on the Ohio River or any of the bodies of water I've fished. I've been in a few bad storms locally and haven't had many concerns. I've also had the boat in some tidal rivers (the James out of Hopewell VA) got passed by a massive seafaring vessel and took a big wake over the bow. I've been wanting to take her to Erie on a bathtub windless day but still haven't had the testicular fortitude to pull the trigger yet. I have the same concerns about being in big water. Not a lot of deadrise, and I would have to watch the weather like a hawk. Given the option to do over, I would get something with some sides. When I bought the boat, I had ZERO interest in fishing Erie, but my list of target species has increased since then.

I lived in Gallipolis my whole life and for some reason never knew about the fishing platform at the dam. I wanna take a day there now! I don't fish much, I am honestly more interested in checking out the dam and rollers, but I will bring my tackle with me of course.

It's a blast fishing there. Usually pretty packed. Combat fishing at times, but most of the people are pretty laid back.

on your muti rod holders in the back the base plates is that 12x12 with 4x6?

I had the plates custom made by Mult-T-Bar just for my boat since I knew the aluminum was on the thin side. Yeah I believe they are 12x12. The smaller default factory base bolts onto the bigger plate. That's the smaller plate you are seeing.

@plattner01 Filled with foam with no access. I used a rivnut tool I purchased on Amazon with no issues whatsoever. I can pretty much hang on my rod rack. I just wanted the plate to spread out loading on the thinner deck aluminum.
