Hope anyone can help. Are the feet supposed to sit flush on the building or at the point like a ballet dancer? My side paneling has a give and won't support the feet laying flat. Seems unreliable.

The lip of my window was nearly an inch higher than the height of the provided bracket. I believe this is because I have replacement windows. As a result, the entire weight of my unit would have been on the thin vertical, and I wouldn’t have been able to secure the main interior brackets to the windowsill. My solution was to buy a true 1”x 3” thick PVS trim board, and attach that flat to the sill before installing as per instructions. I got better tips and info on the install by watching other videos on KZbin not sponsored by Midea. Once I problem solved this for myself, and watched multiple other videos (none of which mentioned this issue either) I was easily able to install this. I am a an experienced basic DIYer who can replace a disposal or kitchen faucet,or easily install a high end storm door, or install LVP floors on stairs, but don’t actually build walls or run electrical stuff. Has anyone found a way to install this unit in a larger window? Does madea provide additional install kits with brackets? I really want this unit but my window is 45 inches wide. I need advice on what I can do to install safely . Thankyou

Hi, Midea! I’m not sure if you’re still replying to comments; I sure hope so! I just received my unit. Question: my window doesn’t have a sash at all. Picture a rectangle-shaped hole to the outside with no sash. Do I have any hope of installing it? Or should I return?

The written instructions that came with this device were horrendously non-descriptive. This video saved me, even though it could have been improved by showing zoomed-in stills.

This was the WORST installation procedure I've ever encountered. It is arrogant and insulting to provide installation instructions this bad for what is now a mature product. Both this video and the manual include instructions that are WRONG and lead to unneeded headaches. Just two examples (of many): 1. The Type-A screws (two or four depending on the window) must pass through holes in the bracket arm. In addition to drilling a 1/8" pilot hole for each Type A screw, the hole in the bracket arm MUST be drilled out to 5/32". Failure to do this will cause the screw to bind in the bracket arm hole -- you will strip the screw and make it unusable. 2. When measuring and cutting the Side Arm Foam, the video and instructions each INCORRECTLY say to "Add 1/4 inch to your measurement" (5:31 in the video). This is dead wrong -- you must SUBTRACT 1/4 inch from your measurement. You've just measured the distance from the inside of the side-arm bracket to the side of the window frame. This distance must be REDUCED by 1/4" in order to accommodate the window sealing foam that is applied to the air conditioner side of the Side Arm Farm in the next step These two examples affect EVERY consumer who installs this product. I am appalled that Midea has not corrected these gross errors. Once installed, the air conditioner is great, by the way. It is very quiet and blows ice cold air. I'll wait and see how it is after a year or so before forming a final opinion.

The instant humidity reading on the machine seems to be off by about 10 points when compared to the reading on the other humidifier and a digital hygrometer. Anyone else notice this or know how to fix it?

Just plugged in my brand new unit and it's not cooling. It's not even venting hot air. And yes i have it on the cool setting with temp turned to 60°F

This video was very very helpful. I wanted to buy one of 8,000 or 10,000 BTU models in June, but then there was a heat wave and all my local stores were out of them until the start of July! I found this much more time-consuming to install than previous window AC's that I have bought, but I did finally get it installed and going. It's been running for about 30 minutes now, and so far I'm happy with it. 🙂 The window I put this in was basically the perfect size for the short right-side extension arm. I really like that I feel very confident that the AC is firmly installed right now, but I worry it will be even more time-consuming to re-install when I go to do it next year or the year after that. There are a lot of things I like about this (so far!), but I wish it was simpler to install. I do realize it must be quite a challenge to make an AC wish can be securely and firmly installed in the wide range of windows which exist. When I ordered this I expected that next year I'd buy a second one of these to replace the (still working) window AC in another room in my house. Now I'm not quite so sure I'll do that.

Video and written pamphlet - absolute worst installation instructions *EVER*. For a $500 unit, I expect better customer service. I'll reserve judgment on whether the timely hassle of figuring this out on my own was worth it.

The inner hose that came with the unit i got isn't actually clipped in to the Ac at the bottom inside of the bigger outer hose. Looks like the metal grate is in the way and the thickness makes it impossible to clip in. Help pls

With the roof of a lower floor coming out just below the window the brackets don't fit. I wish there were different bracket sizes available.

Wouldn’t recommend this without this video to help. The manual… sheesh. Love the unit though. Works so well in the small home office and doesn’t bleed into phone calls. It’s very quiet relative to your standard window units.

Pulled this out of the box, set it up and got it running. I put the conversion kit onto the hose, set up the window kit, and taped it closed. I really am confused what everyone here is complaining about - I get the video is fast, but it has a pause button and the steps are super easy. I can't imagine anyone having serious difficulties with this.

Stupid old shingles on my rental house make it impossible to install this thing level, am I screwed?

I don’t just want a refund for my purchase, i want you to pay for the two hours i wasted installing this piece of garbage. The window mounting system is the biggest piece of garbage ive ever seen. Ive never seen such extreme penny pinching and engineering incompetence. I don’t expect the window mount to last for even a whole day with how badly it flexes and bows and is essentially a friction fit. And you call those little plastic pins bolts!? Your company is an absolute joke!

Hands down the worst pile of sh!t I’ve ever purchased. DO NOT BUY!!!!! The engineers who replaced sliders with Bs foam like it’s an arts and crafts project should be fired, drawn and quartered. How tf does this ever get manufactured?? What an absolute joke of a company

i'm installing this in a horizontal opening window.. I already bought the plywood I'm putting in above it. (it's a back window that can't be seen by any neighbors so it's fine.) The hardest part so far is the bracket. My window has a 7" lip below it that makes putting those diagonal brackets against the wall impossible so i'm cutting wood right now to brace it against the ground. A fairly hacky approach but I'll probably think of something better by next summer.

Was looking to buy this unit but I have a 42inch window which is more than max width for this unit(and every unit i have looked at). Do you think it would still be stable if i cant screw the end bracket into the side wall since the max they reach is 36"
