It’s interesting to see different people’s perspectives on this song and Geoff’s voice. Most musicians/vocal coaches/singers, etc, will call him “bass” whereas Geoff himself has said that he’s a “baritone with a well-developed bass range” and I find it really interesting that you picked up on his being more of a baritone from your perspective. I wonder what makes your perception different than so many others. I know a lot of it probably comes down to internal understanding so fully explaining it probably wouldn’t be possible…but it would be cool if we could somehow compare the differences between your reasoning vs everyone else’s. Because your conclusion actually lines up with Geoff’s, which I believe is the correct one. (I am more inclined to accept Geoff’s opinion of his being a baritone than other people’s opinions of him being a bass, because he’s ALSO a professional musician and I figure that after 25+ years of singing, he probably knows his own voice, y’know?)
