A very strong start Gerrit. Clear, well video'd, engaging, tips with some technical bits in there as well. Plus, the most important point, entertaining. Thank-you

This brought out a fond memory of my family and I watching in awe at a family (male, female, two young birds) of these birds foraging at Grey Lake, Torres del Paine National Park; and I agree with some comments here, while the male is stunning, the female doesn’t stay behind in the primeval-kind of beauty these woodpeckers evoke so much!

Nicely done. There are four Campephilus species here in Brazil, besides many other genres of woodpeckers, like Colaptes, Celeus, Melanerpes and Piculus... come and visit our forests...🎉🎉🎉

You have more of everything in Brazil :) I filmed the Araripe Manakin several years ago in Ceará. You can find that video on my website.

Oh!! This was so fabulous to see. I was there at almost the exact same time as you were (based on an ebird post I saw with your name on it!) but I certainly didn't get up to where the sheep were. So fun to see your photos of them and of the beautiful landscape, the magnificent colors and The Mountain!!! What an incredible experience it was to be there!

LOL@SwanSycrax…..just typical. Just getting into photography myself , and as much as i hate to say it, it is almost 100 percents better that you find a secluded hide out. I have had the best of both worlds myself, I was born and raised in the West Midlands in Birmingham, left when I was 18 years of age, that some 43 years ago, and now live here in the USA, Atlanta Ga to be exact.

I love shorebirds as well and this video really inspires me to get out and do more with them. I love your approach of scouting out a location and being prepared with either a blind, or in this case, appropriate clothing and then coming back and getting the shots. All of these have been so helpful and inspiring. And of course your photos are extraordinary. Please keep them coming as you have time. (And I loved your book).

Wonderfully filmed and put together, to show the behavior and habitat. The dusky grouse looks a bit like the spruce grouse we have where I am in Northern New Hampshire and Maine, but they are in thick spruce, so we don't get to see them in the open usually. Always a treat to get to see your work, thanks for putting it up here!

Great info! Lots of fond memories tucking into blinds before dawn, jittery from excitement and sleep deprivation. Proud to share Tragopan products with my workshop participants - just collected two Monal V2's from the field that look like new after weeks of wind lashing.

Beautiful bird. Great video. Thanks for persevering even though I'm guessing you weren't feeling that well. A question. When you go off trail how do you avoid getting lost in the woods? I have a poor sense of direction and worry about going too far off trail.
@GerritVyn3 ай бұрын
I just keep an awareness of where I am specially the best I can. In this case I knew if I went down hill I’d end up back on the trail.
