Thanks for the great details about the two types on the market. Really helpful to know 🙏 Now onto an important question... I hear and read a lot of advice for using a mild "soapy water" for cleaning, but no one says what kind of "soap" ? Today a number of soaps are not soap but detergents, which are detrimental to some plants. So, could you please suggest what kind of "soap" to make a solution from ? { like for example, using the classic recipe of olive oil soap ?}

There is a Janet Craig growing on a dead stalk. The stalk seems almost dead but the plant & it's short stalk is green. Should I cut the good piece off & root it in water? Thank you. I would appreciate anyone answering as I just got it & am trying to learn about this Dracaena ☺️

Yes, there are some standard things you can do coming out of winter going into spring. We just released a Blog on our website about some standard things you might want to do. www.plantz.com/blog/spring-houseplant-care-tips/ But, for your Issue. Can you send a couple pictures. Maybe taking a look at and talking over a few things we can get Alii going again. It's probably just reacting to the winter. But light and watering matter? Age as well. How old is the plant? Yes, you can notch but only if the water is back right. You don't want to stress the plant more than it already is. If Alii was to dry or to wet. If Alii was to dry water up slowly, then fertilize and trim. If Alii was to wet, Myself I would change out the soil, in case of fungus, ph levels off. Just a ftresh start to the year. Once that's stable a bit, couple weeks-ish, then trim.

Thanks for your informative video I am living in Tehran Iran and don't have volcanic cinder. What is the best soil mixture and soil ingrediance I can use. I bought 3 separate ones in 3 different sizes today and asked the seller to place them all in one pot next Friday (in about 8 days) when I am going to be present there when he is reporting them. He says only leaf compost and some vermi compost and some garden soil will be enough. I asked him to add some orchids bark to the soil but he doesn't recommend it. So. Since I am a palm lover I appreciate if you recommend the best soil mix before next Friday so I can ask him to use the one recommend with my own responsibility. I also want to leave the repotted Kentias in his green house so they will overcome the reporting shock. I already appreciate your help and guidance 🙏🙏

You are welcome very much! Glad we could Help. Keep in mind we are in the wither months they drink less. Fireplaces and heating vents will have an effect. Hi. I recently bought 4 fish tail palm. They are young almost seedlings. The leaves of one of them is turning yellow whereas the breast of them are fine and green. Why the leaves on this one is turning yellow.? They all get the same attention ,light, fertilizing, etc.. Pls advise what I should do ? Thanks

There are a lot of factors that can cause this to happen. Acclamation, Season, Heating vents and/or Fireplaces etc. Can you send us a pic. That could help us diagnose the problem. Thank you for reaching out.

They say :"" SET UP - Please do NOT transplant or repot as this will cause stress to the plant and its root system. The plant will let you know when it needs to be transplanted as you will find yourself having to water it frequently and it will not retain the moisture. It will take several years for this to happen"". SO, MY QUESTION IS: it looks like the plant eventually will STILL have to be transplanted which will cause stress to the root system. I am wondering if this rule has to do something with the warranty. Thank you for your beautiful plants! We purchased a lovely palm from your nursery. It looks gorgeous in our FL screened porch. Will buy more! 🤩
@4plantz
@4plantz 2 жыл бұрын
This has less to do with a warranty. And more to do with the health of the plant. The shipping process can send the plant into shock. Letting the plants settle down an destress is best for their long life.

Very good! I have one that I rescued from a rubbish bin about 4 years ago. It has only 3 branches coming out from almost exactly the same node. One of the branches grew very, very long and I have since been tying it up with a string. I am positive that if I removed the string the entire branch would break off, I am now not afraid to cut it!

Did you oil the leaves? Why so shiny?
@4plantz
@4plantz 2 жыл бұрын
For Shinning the leaves at home, you can try- NOT TO BE USED ON EVERY PLANT. Safer on the Larger Leaf Plants. Caution with your Palms 1 gallon of tap water, 2 tablespoon vegetable oil, ½ cup of rubbing alcohol and 2 tablespoons of mild dish soap. Water should be added to jug first and soap should be added to water last to avoid bubbles. {If it does bubble, The alcohol will dilute the bubbles} Put a small amount into a spray bottle and lightly mist the plant and wipe dry with a towel or rag. Be sure to protect your floors and furnishings when misting and only mist when the Sun is not shining directly on plant through the window. This is a Plant Shine; And you don't want it to build up on the Leaves and choke them out. With Regular Cleaning and Maintenance, I only shine mine with this about twice a year {Holidays and Spring/Summer} For Regular Cleaning and Plantz Maintenance at home. Especially my Bamboo Palms. I use the same recipe MINUS the Vegetable Oil. 1 gallon of tap water, {add-1/4-1/2 tsp of Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro during Spring and Summer Months for Micro-Feeding in Medium to High light, I do change the Recipe for Low light}, ½ cup of rubbing alcohol and 2 tablespoons of mild dish soap. {dish soap cleans and lights up any webbing from SpiderMites, aggravates any pests feeling Mealy or Mitey. The alcohol will kill any pest feeling Mealy or Mitey. I'll use this Before I have to break out any of the big guns, to get rid of any pests. Water should be added to jug first and soap should be added to water last to avoid bubbles. {If it does bubble, The alcohol will dilute the bubbles} Put a small amount into a spray bottle and lightly mist the plant and wipe dry with a towel or rag, When you Water. Be sure to protect your floors and furnishings when misting and only mist when sun is not shining directly on plant through the window. Takes a lot of work to make it look easy, lol.

Hi, I read that the female plant has vey low pollen for allergies sufferer’s do you sell female only plants and are the ok for a house with dogs?
@4plantz
@4plantz 2 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the Delay. We do not sell female only plants but, these are good plants for air purification. In My experience when the Drancena plants, When/If you dry them down in the winter months. Then the plant gets hit with a heat blast {Like a Heat Vent/Fireplace coming on in the winter months} that's when I've seen them go into bloom. But, that's just my experience here in Florida. www.plantz.com/product/janet-craig-carmen/ Janet Craig Dracaena is toxic to dogs, humans, and cats. While usually considered non-life threatening, this plant can cause the following symptoms if ingested: dilated pupils in cats, vomiting (sometimes bloody), depression, anorexia, and hypersalivation.
