On GTA situ, I hate to be 'kids these days' but kids these days will sell their reputation and value for zero dollars at the chance of fame. This guy already made his money in the 80s and values his work. Of course you are mad he didn't debase himself like you and get on his knees for free.

It wasn't for zero dollars or for free. He simply didn't agree with what was being offered. Which of course is fine - his work after all. That said, I do wonder what he was expecting them to offer him. Does he know what GTA is or how his work would've been used in the game? It's just another track that would've been used on the radio whenever somebody hopped in the car among dozens of others. They'll just swap this one out for whatever else was next in their shortlist.

What are they worth? They didn't like the money offered, they refused; we move on. It's not a big deal. This stuff happens all the time behind the scenes. Chances are some of these guys have never actually played a GTA game and thought the songs use in the title would be more prominent than some radio play when you get into a vehicle.

7500 for something released 41 yrs ago… It’s enough to me for a 3 minutes song that most players won’t pay attention to. Fuck corpos and all that, but then I buy the game they made and the game they put their money in to be born… just hilarious. In addition the exposure part was also true… look for recent comments, how many people came here bc of the dispute with rockstar??

@@fsturmat So how much would you offer then? Remember, they probably approached some sort of licensing agency and offered whatever the advertised price of use was. That and the fact that they've got a budget and will be featuring dozens of other tracks in game. You think they're going around offering everybody 50% of the games earnings to use a song on the radio that may or may not play whenever you're in a vehicle?

@@fsturmat If the value of something is determined by how much the person buying it has, then you should pay 100$ for a hot dog. Point being, Martyn never made a case for as to WHY he thinks the song should be valued more than 7,500 other than saying "GTA V made blah blah" which isn't even profit just the revenue... as if expenses don't exist. Heaven17 has made deals with Rockstar for Vice City back when they were a lot smaller of a company and for some reason had no issues with what they were given. This is just trying to make people pay the most that they can by up charging them, and when corpos do this we call them greedy but when individuals do this we tell them to "get da bag son" TL;DR Hypocrisy has its limits son.

You do realize they wanted to buy just the copyright to it so they could've used it in the game, not the song as a whole, right? Like all they would be able to do is place it in a radio channel where countless of other random songs also are. Besides you don't even agree with the band (at least Martyn) because he's saying he wants more money because Rockstar makes a lot of money, not because the song is good.
