How often do skylights need to be checked for leaks in order to prevent them? I wanted one installed by the roofing guy but he said he doesn't do them because they always leak. That was kinda discouraging to hear because I really want one but I'm concerned about my roof leaking.

The brick will deteriorate over time. You should score the brick and add wall flashing like you would on a chimney. No leak guarantee

PVC is technically better (and lasts longer), but many people choose TPO because it’s cheaper (and almost just as good). PVC is better on restaurants (where grease spill/leak is inevitable on the roof).
