Did several for a horror book club and just got a bit tired of him. I am planning on reading The Hacienda, and have several library holds in, waiting.

Stephen King calls his fans "Constant Readers" but it doesn't have the same ring as Peasant 😂 Read in September: Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune. I've read a total of 5 books so far this year, I couldn't imagine getting over my book hangovers fast enough to read so many in one month! Although, my reading goals each month expect more of me. TBD in October: Eyes of the Dragon /and/ Misery by Stephen King, 1984 by George Orwell and hopefully World War Z by Max Brooks. Happy Reading!

Just came across this. Funnily enough, I finally read every single fiction book and collection by Stephen King last month. I had read most of his books when I was a teenager, but I did a big re-read and decided to pick off all the ones I'd missed over the last couple years. Misery is top-tier. It was written towards the end of his heavy substance abuse period (heavy drinking and cocaine use through the late 70s to the late 80s), and King has said, regarding certain metaphorical interpretations of this text: "Annie Wilkes *is* cocaine." Some people say he hasn't written anything as good as his vintage titles from the 70s/80s since he got clean around 1989, but I think that is ridiculous. Part of what's great about King is he continues to be curious about the world and stays abreast of the cultural zeitgeist as it changes and evolves over time. He's not perfect, but he always tries really hard to be empathetic and open-minded. In particular, 11/22/63, Revival, and Duma Key are all really great novels from the last 15 years that stand toe-to-toe with anything he wrote in the 20th century. Kathy Bates' win for Best Actress at the Academy Awards is the one and only time a Stephen King adaptation has won an Oscar.

I just started this book!! Kings style of writing horror ties my stomach in knots and forces me to leave the book face down for a while 💯😭 and I’m a horror GORL!! I loved your take on the first chapter. I was so confused at first!!!

Annie Wilkes was far more sinister in the book but none the less Kathy Bates totally delivered in the movie...After you finish reading the Shining you can curl up with Josh( because you will be jumping out your seat lol) and watch the movie Jack Nicolson played the main character that was a classic movie....❤

Salem’s Lot is a good read.. PS the series coming out is a remake.. the original made for tv movie was good, had us scared as kids….😂😂😂 So I hope the remake does the original and the book justice.
