How is this going to work out when you need a projector directly in front of the styrofoam head? As in the person viewing it will need to be standing behind the projector and will see the projector in front of them with the Styrofoam head beyond that.

Really cool. I wish at some point we wouldve been able to see the projection without the added green light prop that was added though (and the wig). Just to see the real effect of the projection on its own without buying add on accessories. But other than that really cool. If you make another video without wig/light props please let me know. Id love to see it

I purchased one of the AtmosFX 3D forms to use this year in my display. I've only tried it out in my house so far and it didn't look too bad. I want to get a few more clips to make the material tighter/form fitting so hopefully it'll look better. I'm also gonna use some sand in the bottom inflatable section to help weigh it down so it hopefully won't move around too much.

Best of luck with the 3DFX forms! I’ll be getting some soon myself to test out!

Awesome news! Happy to hear you and the family are doing well. New / Bigger house means new challenges!! Setting up old props in new configurations. Finding the best line of sights for visitors. Curious what features of the new house are better OR worse than your old and how you may be addressing Halloween this year.
@ToilandTroublesDIYАй бұрын
Thank you very much! Definitely going to be interesting tackling the decorations for the new house. While it is bigger, it is not as wide as our old house so I do not have as much frontage/yard to work with. We thankfully do have a picture window (as this was one of my new-house requirements🤣) but it unfortunately has a fairly large mullion in the middle. I think I will need to transition to projection mapping but not sure I will be able to tackle that this year.

@@ToilandTroublesDIY I'm glad to hear you placed Halloween considerations on your house hunting list 😂. I almost always do that when doing major landscaping changes or if we are considering moving. I have a double window upstairs with a large divider. I take either the easy way out and offset my projection to one side or use a video editor to adjust the scene. Anyway....glad you're back. Looking forward to another season of DIY

I’m having trouble attaching the fabric to the wire. Did as you described but it came off. Any suggestions?
@ToilandTroublesDIY4 ай бұрын
Hey Mark! Thanks for watching and sorry to hear your first attempt was not successful. Do you think the fabric may have been too taut so that when you removed the thumbtacks, the fabric ripped off the wire to return to slack? If I were to do it again, I would place the fabric down on a non-stick surface, apply superglue to the wire, place the wire down onto the fabric, apply a weight to the wire to press down onto the fabric, and then allow the glue to dry. Hope that helps!

So cool! Quick question. If you have 3 significantly different sized pumpkins, how do you scale up or down each individual pumpkin animation? Also, how do you control the placement of where each pumpkin needs to be placed? Or is it static (they all need to be in a row, or it won’t work).

Not very easy. Who has a flicker controller on hand and a 12v led

While it is much cheaper, using plexi glass-like plastic it is very likely that the amount of light will dramatically decrease in comparison to using projection port window.

Great how to! Clear and precise. Im struggling with two things which don’t appear to happen on your video: 1) the image of the fortune teller is projecting on the crystal ball mesh and also the wall behind. It’s like the mesh isn’t absorbing all the light. And 2) I get a little dot on my crystal ball which is the light of the projector bulb. Did you face either of these issues? Again, thanks for a great video!

@ToilandTroublesDIY Жыл бұрын
It mostly depends on your budget! Automatic on/off functions are typically only seen in home theater-level, brand name projectors like Epson, Optoma, etc. However, Aaxa recently released an upgraded version of their HP3 which is a budget-friendly Halloween projector that now features an auto-start function. You can check it out here - amzn.to/45ESAIi

How tall are the pillars that you have your talking pumpkins on? Looks like a steep angle upwards inside the projector box?
@ToilandTroublesDIY Жыл бұрын
They are each around 3 feet tall.
@fennec7906 Жыл бұрын
@@ToilandTroublesDIY Ah, thanks for that. Yeah, I tried to build a projector box and angle my projector upward but It's so hard to get the right angle to display the faces properly. Always seems to work better when the pumpkins and projector are on the same level but that takes away from the illusion and I need to figure out another way to disguise the projector box because it can't be a gravestone at that point.
@ToilandTroublesDIY Жыл бұрын
@@fennec7906 Why aren’t you able to get the right projection angle?
@fennec7906 Жыл бұрын
@@ToilandTroublesDIY I don't know, It's difficult to put into words because you'd think something like that would be very straight-forward. When I grab the projector with my hands and angle it upward onto the pumpkins to take a measurement or even when I place different objects under the front of the projector to measure from there, the faces always look a little off, same as when I use the projector stand. But when I have the pumpkins and projector at the same level, they're fine. *shrugs* Do you have any tips? Because it would be way better to have the projector box close to the ground like you do.
@ToilandTroublesDIY Жыл бұрын
@@fennec7906 My only suggestion would be to try to move the box father away from the pumpkins so that upward angle isn’t too extreme. If the box is too close and you have to project up at, let’s say, a 45 degree angle, the projection of the pumpkins is going to be pretty distorted (smaller at the bottom and larger at the top).
