I'm also confused about H P clough being a high school. Didn't know it use to be one. When did it become Kindergarten to 4th grade?

So I'm not 100% sure on all the details but Clough was built in 1903 to serve as the single K-12 school in Mendon (replacing the current Town Hall built in 1840 which replaced multiple school houses across town). The Mendon Upton Regional District was formed in the 60's and that's when they built the Nipmuc High School (what is now known as Miscoe Hill Middle School). Initially the school district was grades 7-12 so I'm guessing Clough was K-6? They built an addition on Miscoe for the middle school in 1980 for grades 5-8 and sometime around then the district changed to be K-12 and that's when Clough went back to K-4. I think they the 3 buildings are K-4, 5-8, 9-12 now.

@@danielbyer9969 Was not aware the town hall use to be the school. And look at that, the town hall was built in 1840 and it's made of wood and still exist so whoever is responsible for tearing down Clough which is a brick building couldn't have done it because of age. I am so sick of them getting bigger buildings for everything like they just did for the Fire Department and Police Station. This is supposed to be a small town. When is it going to end?

Wow!.. Henry P Clough himself on this!.. Always wondered about him during my 5 years there. Truly is a tragedy why the school got torn down... Anyone know why it happened?.. I've watched a kid walk to Mr Sodas office with great dread after breaking a single pane of glass, yet someone gets away with tearing down the entire building!

Here's some history on the building. www.hope1842.com/mendonNTcenterschool.html It is a shame it had to go but due to it's age it was no longer suitable for use as a school.

@@danielbyer9969 Yeah, I've seen that page before. Trying to figure out what company it was that tore it down. Then maybe I can tell the principle "Mr Soda" about it and see what he has to say! Brick buildings like that are supposed to be good for 300-500 years so I don't think it had to do with age.
