The very best liveact the world has ever seen! One of the biggest bands ever! True and faithful emotion, and they always kept true to where they came from. This is music which makes you both rock and dream away. I saw them several times here in Germany, and they always made a great job, rocking the roof down. I wished I understood those gaelic lyrics... To me one of the biggest bands ever!

Dude, you are so right. I liken it to something I heard Sinead O'Conner say about her performances. I wish I could recall it clearly now. Emotional honesty! That was it! That's what she said! I'm rather sad I missed both their formative years while I was listening to other stuff. However, later in life as I've found each of them and followed their separate careers, I'm proud of them both. I will follow them now as long God allows me. Peace brother.

Can anyone tell me, what song is to be heard in the intro? "From The North" was my very first impression of Runrig in my ever first Runrig concert and it totally blew my mind! But this live version is so beautiful and hypnotic due to this intro, I can't stop listen to it. And I wonder, what is the name of this song?
@hogwashmcturnip89304 жыл бұрын
I might be totally wrong but I think it is a poem by Sorley Mclean He worked with the band a few times, and they have featured his work in songs before. Not sure if he is still alive, he must be ancient if he is. He is/was Scotland's premier Gaelic poet

From the north came a warrior Baring burdens dark and deep I've a will and I've a wanting And miles to go before I sleep I have horses in my stable I have sons fit to fight I will bring this to your table If you ride with me this night From the north came a warrior Baring burdens dark and deep I've a will and I've a wanting And miles to go before I sleep Blood red wine, a toast for heroes And harping till the morning light Come the dawn the road will lead us If you ride with me this night

Actually, it's technically not a goat. It's a mountain goat, which belongs to a separate genus than domestic goats and their relatives (Oreamnos instead of Capra).

No, because a kid means a juvenile goat. That's just what Kid means. Thus Kid on the Mountain=Young Goat on the Mountain.

a hidden gem indeed!!!! I was looking for this piece for such a long time. I used to have it on a cassette version years ago... lost it, and I didn't even know the name of the piece. Thanks for posting - I've been playing Phil Cunningham all night long, I love his playing - I was lucky to see him live in Vancouver in the 80s... I never saw him playing this one though ... really a gem!!! thanks again!!!

I actually see it in my head Like a scene fom the 13th Warrior or King Arthur. Darkness. With that backlit stuff they do so it isnt dark at all! A wood.A warrior, probably in armour, but trad Highland or Viking would be better. He looms out of the wood, on horseback naturally, something dark from the nightime With dry ice of course. Oh in that case he needs a hooded cloak! where is he going ? To some chieftain. Why is he riding alone? He is obviously a noble. And why is he offering his sons in some deal? I have been told it has to do with a clan war, I hope it was an interesting one, because I prefer my version! It Is perfect for a film soundtrak or a book.Its also bloody good to work withThe visuals almost write themselves. You know when there are galloping horses, Battles, fair maidens...

Somerhairlidh Mor MacGilliBride, Ri Innse Gall? Avenging his father in laws murder, or meeting David the Maidens craven challenge to his righteous authority? (The pathetic wee coward hired an assasin to murder Somhairlidh, then comissioned a bard to write some fantasy about the people of Glasgow rising up against his fleet of 160 warships. A bit unlikely, given that Glasgow was a small village at the time... ;-) )
