@@queefyg490 I’ve owned 4 s60 T5s to date. This car is my infamous one I owned from 2019-2021. It was the only factory black on black car I ever owned and the first one I ever built with a custom front and rear bumper with a center exit exhaust and external wastegate. The ones prior had the side exits that kickstarted my entrance into the Volvo community and the one I own now is a exact replica of this black car but green and doesn’t feature a big custom turbo setup like that car did. I’ve never owned a 4t5 powered car. All of mine have had the 4t3 which is still a great engine and the better option for building just slightly weaker than a 4t5 in factory form. Anything is possible with enough time, money and knowledge but it honestly isn’t worth it…might as well just start with a s60r or s60 2.5t between wiring and having to change the rear suspension, subframe, transmission, and buy a bunch of awd parts you could’ve just started with a R or 2.5t and done a big turbo setup for the same price and honestly probably cheaper. Doing a custom big turbo setup like I did on this car is very expensive. Mostly the tuning aspect but thing have changed some since I built this car.

Love the dedication. Don't really like the sound of the screamer on this build, I'd route it through the rest of the exhaust. Also, I'm 95% sure the X pipe is doing nothing for your sound since it started as a single, anyway. Aaannd, I'd look into poly suspension bushings as my next mod if I were you. You got some rough-looking torque flex on acceleration.
@T5_T-Rell5 ай бұрын
X pipe definitely made a difference in sound. It may be hard to do at first but if you listen closely and ignore the external wastegate sound and focus solely on the exhaust sound (the clip where I do the pull under the trees and the guy on the bike rides by is probably the best example to use for a proper sound clip) you’ll notice how raspy and somewhat higher pitched this car sounds in comparison to most Volvo 5 cylinders. I specifically mapped out and “designed” this exhaust setup to try to sound as much like a v10 without me having to spend $1,000+ on a tubular exhaust manifold which is the key ingredient needed to make these cars sound like v10 clones. I somewhat achieved that with this car but I also wanted all the various turbo noises I could get with this car including the sound of the external wastegate. I sold that car back in 2021 and I was well aware of the worn suspension parts. I have a 02 s60 T5 track build now with various different solid and poly mounts and semi slicks so spinning and torque flex is an issue that no longer plagues me.

You could easily swap your drivetrain into any other p80 or p2 volvo but in general. It would be a great swap for a Volvo c70, 850, or v70 but if want something non-Volvo a e36/46 bmw would be best since there’s adapter plates made to run the bmw transmissions with the Volvo 5 cylinder engines. Mine don’t fill up with oil. If you have a fresh pcv and made sure to clean all your engine ports when doing the pcv job and your engine is healthy you shouldn’t have oil in your catch can with a healthy engine. There are plenty of engines that can make the same power as this engine or even more and yes the engine you recommend is more readily available but I disagree on it being better. The 5 cylinder has a way better exhaust note and the 4t5 Volvo 5 cylinder has been shown to be able to handle more hp than 450 hp which is what distinguishes it and makes it better than alot of the other Volvo 5 cylinders which typically can’t handle over 400hp without getting aftermarket forged internals or even some sort of block reinforcement depending on the bore size.

Nah this isn’t the 2.5l engine…81mm bore block Volvo 2.3 and 2.4l Rn engines don’t have a tendency to crack blocks like the 83mm bore 2.4l and 2.5l engines engine do which is why this engine is superior to the s60r/v70r engine. It takes everything that makes that engine great but leaves out the weak thin cylinder wall block and replaces it with a 81mm bore block. Funny you say that considering I owned a 04 2.3l s60 T5 with a big turbo setup and the m56 transmission that’s been documented on this channel with multiple videos…the 2.3l has weaker rods than the 2.4l t5 engine and the head doesn’t flow as well. The 05-09 b5244t5 engine is the most capable factory Volvo Rn engine you can get for power: 81 mm bore like the 2.3l so you have a strong block that’s not prone to cracking, same better flowing head as the R engine, same crank and rods as an R engine giving it more stroke and making it a 2.4l, and in factory configuration it came with the k24 turbo..I have yet to see a 2.3l be pushed upwards of 500hp or more without rods being installed at the least this is a feat that the 2.4l has accomplished multiple times.

No this engine is US spec it’s just not as common as the other Volvo 5 cylinders. The 2.3l t5 engine was the one that was really mass produced since it was used in many different volvos. The 2.4l b5244t5 engine was used only in the s60 t5 and v70 T5 from the years 2005-2009. The v70 T5 is rare in general and usually if one of these engines go for sale an enthusiast grabs it up quick or a shop since the demand is usually higher than the supply so you’d be better off finding/buying a 05-09 s60 T5 with a auto trans and pulling the engine.

@@megatronn194 in my personal opinion prefacelift s60 T5s are rare but not nearly as rare as the 05+ cars. If you can get you hands on any 2.3l t5 Volvo it would be easier and cheaper than the 2.4l T5 and the 2.3l with forged rods and pistons has been shown to handle crazy amount of power. Some guys in Sweden have pushed the 2.3l t5 engine upwards of 800+whp on a stock block with upgraded internals and head work. The 2.3l and 2.4l t5 engines have the strongest block since they’re 81mm bore blocks. If you plan to build the engine anyway with rods and pistons it would probably be cheaper to build the 2.3 than the 2.4l. The 2.3l just can’t handle as much power without being built as a 2.4 can.
