@@jozefmurarik9905 one of the biggest reasons I make the videos I make is to try to talk about things that aren’t normally covered, or at least talk about it in more detail that I think people should know. There are plenty of videos showing basic techniques and counters. I feel no need to explain something gone over so many times before. And I think the best way to learn these techniques is to find a practice and just pull. I have some more armwrestling videos planned for the future. That being said… I will think about making videos like you mentioned, but perhaps some more details within them so I am not just repeating videos that have already been made. Short enough to get to the point, but long enough to where I can give you solid information. We will see what happens… I highly recommend you watch KZbin videos by The Voice Of Armwrestling, Bob Brown armwrestling, Devon larrat, Table monkeys… honestly several armwrestling KZbin accounts. They can give you what you are looking for. But if you like the way I explain things, than perhaps I can still make it happen sometime in the future, after I make the videos I am planning on making.

IMO guys with shorter arms do better to get their hand and riser super strong and out toproll them. If you can beat the long arm’s riser you can win. It depends on your opponent. If you’re pulling longer arm who’s got a really good pronator and wrist hooking is not much of an option as you end up losing your wrist. I have a longer arm than most at my weight and a good pronator. I love when a shorter arm guy tries to hook me. However I get beat by shorter arms when their riser beats mine.
@troytueller999227 күн бұрын
@@Dmgolfer22 yes, it can be really hard to hook a good toproller. Hence why I briefly made the point. Obviously it’s a hard battle to win. But from a leverage standpoint, if the short arm puts the tall arm in a hook, advantage goes to shorter arm. The toproll route is more feasible in that sense, but of course… only if you are strong enough.
@Dmgolfer2227 күн бұрын
@ Yeah it really all comes down to who wins the hand at go. Even in a hook whoever has the top hand position is at advantage. A guy with longer arm could also get advantage in a hook if they have the hand position like a high hook. This is one reason why I love this sport so much. There’s so many fine details and intricacies. Matches can go so many different ways/lanes based on styles.

Get a stupid strong rise and pronation. The problem is not the short arm imo, its if you have a small hand. A short arm with a big hand would be overpowered
@troytueller9992Ай бұрын
@@DevexTRE there are definitely flaws with having a short arm, like I said in the video. But are short arms obsolete? Not at ALL. A short arm typically has a small hand attached to it, thats what you normally see anyways. So yeah, your statement of getting a strong rise and pronation lines up perfectly with what I said, you need to get stronger.
@DevexTREАй бұрын
@ i do not see a flaw with having a short arm if ur hand is big, maybe that you cant pack on as much muscle unless ur lee. I myself have a short arm and have zero trouble with long arms since my hand and fingers are big.
@troytueller9992Ай бұрын
@ that makes sense… but like I said. Short arms might have issues in the setup due to having to chase a bit more, and not having as much reach as long arms do. Once a referees grip is taken place this issue is slightly solved, but you are still likely limited in your mobility. Now of course you say you don’t have issues with things because you happen to have a big hand. But if every short arm had a massive hand then I probably wouldn’t have to make this video, but that’s not the case. I get that you don’t have issues, but others DEFINITELY do
@mence5992Ай бұрын
@@DevexTRE if you and the tall guy try to cheat, and the refs are not strict, you are never going to take as Mich as the long leverage guy. You are pretty much starting with "deserving" advantages while he should have pretty much nothing. Everything he gets, you are losing.

I feel like the thing that was missed here is that, yes, you will have to get stronger. But also that you WILL end up stronger. If you try to max out backpressure or sidepressure and you put the belt lower on your arm, your numbers will go up. That is the advantage of the shorter arm armwrestler. Yes, you will have to be stronger, but you SHOULD be stronger. If I take your arm while you're sleeping and increase your bone length, so that tomorrow you wake up with a longer arm, suddenly, your backpressure max will go DOWN. If I make your arm shorter, it will go UP! Now, the counter to this, is that long armed people usually have a bigger frame. So they can fit more muscle on their arm, which means more strength in the long term. But that's what weight classes are for! The real advantage of a longer arm is mostly the longer fingers, which makes a hook more attractive usually for the shorter guy, because it's difficult to toproll such long fingers. That's the one thing where I struggle to see any advantage: shorter fingers. The way you get stronger at cupping in an equivalent way to putting the belt lower on your arm, is to get your fingers more around the implement. The shortness here is almost universally a disadvantage. But for anything arm related, if you just take the same muscle and put a longer lever on it, it will be weaker.
@troytueller9992Ай бұрын
@@RevanZim thanks for your input, I agree with what you say. This video is mainly for people who have short arms that are struggling, and have asked me what they should do. And really the answer is to get stronger. I should have mentioned the advantages of short arms in this video, that’s my bad.
@RevanZimАй бұрын
@@troytueller9992 Actually there is one technique that is easier to do if you have shorter fingers, very difficult to do with long fingers. It's a bit of a desperation move and hard to explain in a youtube comment without visually showing it, but I'll try anyways. Usually, the less coverage you have on your opponent's hand, the worse it gets. But there is a breakpoint to this. Once your fingers get off of your opponent's index finger metacarpal bone, off of that bone ridge, things change. Mainly two things: One, your opponent is now pronating into nothing, since they have no purchase whatsoever on your fingers anymore (which also means you're cupping into nothing, but this is not actually so bad in this case, because...). Number two, you get to rotate your hand freely around their thumb. Since your fingers are now off of the bone ridge, you can rotate your fingertips into the space between their thumb and hand for free. Which means you actually get your cup in as the shorter arm guy. Which means you get to kick your wrist out and reduce their finger coverage on your hand by a great degree! Now, again, you gave up almost all ability of your cup to influence their hand, since your cup is now rotating freely and not doing much of anything else. But, the ability to kick your wrist out to hit into their fingers might actually open up an outside attack, even if you're the shorter arm guy. It feels very weird when someone does this to you, and I believe this is what people refer to when they talk about crazy george toprolling them "from under their hand". He grabs their thumb like travis, in a vice grip, and still toprolls anyway. The problem is that it's very difficult to do anything else once you've committed to this, but this is one thing that's easier with shorter fingers.

@troytueller9992Ай бұрын
@@yofukashidayo idk what the exact measurements would be to be considered short. I mean you could compare you arm length to other people around your height and see where you stack up, perhaps? It’s also good to keep in mind that there are times when somebody with a normal sized arm, as in like average, goes up against a REALLY tall arm, and just ends up in these positions.

@pass_eАй бұрын
Thanks for making this! But by getting stronger, do you mean physically or simply in those positions?
@troytueller9992Ай бұрын
@@pass_e well… in a sense… both. it’s good to try to get stronger all around the board. Of course getting strong in these positions matter as well, the strength you are trying to build is unique. Armwrestling strength can only really be developed by practicing these movements while pulling / mimicking them in the gym. What’s important to understand is where you yourself feel you need to develop in order to become a better arm wrestler. Just because the short arm puts the tall arm in a hook doesn’t mean the short arm will automatically win no matter what. It’s more nuanced than that. There are a lot of options/angles/pressures you have in your arsenal, it’s just a matter of finding out how to apply them effectively. So having each of those tools sharpened and tuned well makes you more capable of fighting different battles.

There are other ways to level webbing and be good with knuckles without dumping riser. One is what Brzenk does and that’s floating your index finger. Back it down over your bird finger. It uncovers your opponent’s thumb knuckle while keeping your riser. You can also push forward deeper.
@troytueller999227 күн бұрын
@@Dmgolfer22 an interesting approach. I can see the idea with that. But of course the problem is that there are people with tall arms that even when doing that trick, might still be covering the thumb knuckle. Grip a dumbell loaded on one side (or a band, or judo belt with weight on the end) and hold your hand by your side, with the weight or band or whatever coming out the pinky side of your hand. Engage down pressure, bringing your pinky back and up towards your elbow, that's a rep! Kickback you can train like cupping, with rolling handles or dumbells. Have the band or cable coming from in front of you, or from the left if you're using your right hand. Kick back, and feel the resistance!
