First off: Mike, thank you so much for being someone who invests in artists. As one of those fortunate artists, I can thank you personally, but also on behalf of all the others - you and others like you are who keep the wheels turning. My income as a full-time artists is probably 50/50 subscriptions from my membership club and physical music/merch sales. Streaming is negligible to the point of being laughable, perhaps because I'm taking the view that it can do its own thing without me spending any time/energy/money sending people there when I could spend that time/energy/money inviting people to sign up to my mailing list and buy something direct from me. And that tactic is working in enough volume to keep things going. I really enjoyed this video because it's so good to hear the perspective of someone who puts their money where their mouth is. I'm not a big DK fan generally, but I find his takes interesting to compare and contrast my experiences with. So it was extra interesting to hear your response. More of this sort of thing (if you want to make it)!
