Do you do 10% and then 20%, or which order do go in? And do you go back to 10% after you do 10, 20, and then 30? Because it seems like that would mess up the previously calibrated white balance?

Great question! I've since learned a lot more about calibration since making this video, and I wish I had the time to make another. Changing Bias will affect Gain, and vice-versa; you'll find yourself playing a game of 'tug-o-war' at least 2-3 times before both ends are correct. There's also the matter of whether you should calibrate bias from 10% or 30%, and I've had great and terrible results both ways. Calibrating white balance first IS the faster option, so my method of starting from 10% does waste time - but you should have the same result at the end. I've found that calibrating bias at 30% works if you're targeting 80-120nits, but 10% is best if you go any higher. Also gamma is very important, but that step is addressed with my SMPTE Colour Bar calibration. I will say: that if you hook up a PC through CRT-Emudriver; Calibration will get a HELL of a lot more complicated - and rewarding -.

I'm playing on PC, for the higher resolution. I really recommend people play the OG Xbox version though, the targeting system is ruined in the PC version.

Nothing wrong with the wega. Assuming it is Japanese, the speak vowels like if they are Dutch (easy prompt for me), so it is correct. The only thing I can think of is that the second syllable gets the emphasis.

I've got this problem with a Sony 24-in Trinitron that I had found when someone was throwing it out. I got my PS2 hooked up to it with component cables and I thought that might have been the issue because it's only 480i and the PS2 only goes up to 480p.. in some games. I hooked up composite cables and it still had the bend. I tried a PS1 game and noticed the menus were kind of trapezoid shaped almost and the tilt feature under the TV settings didn't fix it ... maybe this will do it.

Buy a simple hdmi->composite adapter, they're cheap on Amazon usually. If you want lagless component, be ready to spend big $$$.

@@NullyBirdThanks i got the Scart one and its working fine :) The problem now is ot fix the not so good geometry but this sadly need the TV to be opened...

@@NullyBirdMine has a problem that i cant fix from the service menu,the upper part where the red one in your video is,will start sinking inside the bezel and by the time it riches the left corner its around half cm in....I wonder how will i be able to fix this one.I was thinking to try magnet strips if i manage to find someone to carry the TV put it on a higher bench and open it...PS:Just seen a video that shows my problem,it does seem like the yoke is lightly tilted,so i need to try and fix that (hopefully)

@@kuroi_1153 check the G gun setting in service menu, make sure it’s turned on. If the green absence is on all inputs, it would be an internal hardware issue. At that point you’d need to get another CRT or become a CRT-repair tradesman to do that repair.

UPDATE3: I learned a lot more on calibration since this video, and I wanted to mention that this guide is mainly for correcting hues and tones throughout the image, and not useful for true calibration. To truely calibrate; you'd need to adjust for gamma, with 100% brightness being at 80-120 nits. I can't make a video on it, because I honestly do not have the equipment necessary to perform a reference-level CRT calibration. I may make something once the PixelMorph FX is released.

There is glue on the rings of my set, I saw mentioned to try dabbing some rubbing alcohol on the glue and cutting it to free the rings up. After doing this and making the adjustment, should you re-glue the rings back together so that they don’t shift or move, therefore, messing up the geometry again after fixing it? If so, what glue is recommended? Also, doesn’t messing with these rings affect convergence?

Late reply, but I never glued mine back together - but that isn't a bad idea. I moved my CRT many times after this adjustment, and never had the rings fall out of place. The lubrication from the rubbing alcohol is temporary, so I think you'll be fine. But if you can find info on which glue to use, then go for it.

Ok good to know. Does fixing the bottom adjust the top of the grid in the same direction as well? The bowing on the bottom of my screen is bad and going in the opposite way of the bowing at the top, which is slight if anything. And, do you have to move both rings, what happens if you move just one ring? Did this affect color or convergence on yours?
