No Gospel here. Just a husband with law-heavy expectations. “She’s not meeting my expectations”. He thinks the whole problem is her. She is beaten down and in the end, trying hard to comply. He is to love his wife as Christ loves the church and he is not doing that but thinks she’s so terrible and sinful that he won’t be able to present her blameless. As if he’s responsible for her righteous standing. No. That’s Christ whose righteousness we have. A pastor’s wife is not supposed to be a mini-pastor. She’s supposed to raise the kids and keep the home and so support the him by that. Stop with the legalistic expectations and show her the same grace God in Christ has shown you and shows you every day. Christ should be her strength and hope that carries her through dark days, NOT her husband!Tragic.

It's wonderful to hear the improvements. But it seems sad that they had to go to a counsellor to hear and learn about some of the most basic truths of Christianity and the Father's heart. Sad because it seems their church didn't teach these truths. If they did, they wouldn't have needed to hear them from a counsellor, would they? Praise God for sending them help in a time of need. Xxx

Sometimes depression has a physical origin, not a spiritual or emotional one. The late Dr Abraham Hoffer successfully helped around 70% of his psychiatric patients to recover with a high dose niacin, vitamin B3 protocol. If the source of someone's depression is nutritional/physical then no amount of counselling can remedy that. How would a Christian counselor know, short of God giving revelation about the source?

Why are people laughing at the beginning? Don't they feel the gravity of the circumstance or understand the pain involved? It upsets me.

That poor woman. I hope she leaves this counselor and finds someone with compassion for her broken heart. I hope someone teaches this man how to love his wife.

No where in scripture is the wife suppose to or expected to act as the assistant Pastor helping with different ministries. Her role is as a wife, period. The Pastor is more worried about what other people think than the needs of his wife. He is to love his wife as Christ loves the church.

What a joke and tragedy at the same time! There's no Bible here, just male domination, abuse and hubris. Who would want to be married to this jerk? What an abusive counselor. I wouldn't want to even know this guy let alone be married. He's commiting spiritual and emotional adultery, a true narcissist! Shame on John Street! I wouldn't just be depressed I'd want to kill myself or find a more godly man. Pathetic counseling!

Hey sister. I just your comment. It's long time from now. But i want to give some encouragement for someone. If the husband is just temped, as a fellow brother, you have to pray with him a seek help feom rhe church or a Biblical counselor to helps you overcame the temptations. But if he embrace that sin, yes pray and let him go, Our Heavenly Father has called us to peace. No man is your qource of salvation or happiness but Christ. I don't know where you are in your journey now but i wil pray for tou and family. Stay blessed sister

I've read Gary Collins book "Christian Counseling". I've also read Wayne Grudem's "Systematic Theology" and have essays on both books. Gary Collins never says truth is based on the Bible and other sources. He also never tries arguing that the Word of God is non-authoritative or infallible. He does make a case that SOME mental, physical and emotional issues are rooted in problems outside the scope of what the Bible addresses, such as depression caused by seasonal affective disorder, which can be addressed using methods or goals not clearly defined in the Bible. I don't think it has to be one or the other when it comes to Christian Counseling (or as the speaker labels it, 'Integration') or Biblical Counseling. They both serve different contexts and purposes. As long as Christian (or integration) counseling doesn't try disproving the Bible, misinterpreting it or arguing it's spiritual authority, or that of the deity of Jesus, I don't think we should throw the baby out with the bath water.

I'm not doing well today. (Emotionally speaking.) It's 49 days since he's spoken to me. I reached out to him, he said he's too busy for me. I'm hurting very deeply. The grief is beyond imaginable. He just completely left me. Abandoned me. Discarded me: like last week's garbage. (That's exactly how it feels!) We were so close. He was my best friend. We went from texting all throughout the day and night, To now being complete strangers... The abandonment and the betrayal leaves me breathless. Leaves me panicked, hyperventilating, suicidal. He left me with nothing but a 999-trillion pound weight atop my chest: suffocating and strangling me, and an ache inside my heart that just won't cease... It just feels like being buried in a dark-dark window-less cave.

The Bible doesn't tell you how to fly an aeroplane, or give a cure for cancer, and a book written over 2000 years old should NOT be used as a text book for counselling. We must NOT worship the BOOK and elevate it to use it for things it was never signed to do be used for. It can actually cause an enormous amount of damage. I know.

I’ve take. A few antidepressant that didn’t have a therapeutic effect and another did help. So how would I know which one would help me? “ mental illness” is a way you think that impacts psychological and physical health. We are spirit, mind, and body. Are they connected?

Servant leadership should more rightly be called servant lordship. Sarah was submissive to her husband calling him "lord" 1 Peter 3 Psalm 45:11 and the king will desire your beauty; bow to him, for he is your lord. If the wife will call the king lord, then she should call her husband lord even more so
