VERY interesting indeed! Good to compare the buildings with google maps today. Most of them are long gone. Other items, Jack Perry (zig and zag) was outed after sexual assault accusations in coming years.

I’m finding these reels most interesting and I recognise some of the locations. However wish someone could have done some editing and introduced captions to identify places and what was going on. Narration would be even better. Great work by the volunteers.

Remote controlled Jindivick I knew about but Canberra and Meteor, that was bold. Black Knight and Blue Streak were successful projects, Labor politicians felt differently and scraped it along with TSR2 but Skylark went on to be a very successful platform.

Hats off to the hard work of these volunteers. I was aged about seven when this was being done. I remember well those days lopping up big trees before chainsaws.

Look at the size of the band from HMAS Cerberus ! The band today is probably about a third smaller.

It’s absolutely incredible how he explains how much work goes into designing a game and it’s absolutely incredible to think how much content gets cut due to limits and deadlines, makes me wonder how much different shadow of the colossus would have been if they could have finished everything they wanted.

Great to see the main street before the East Gippsland Shire Council ripped out the established shade trees and replaced them with useless small ornamental trees. Another waste of money from a Shire that despises large deciduous shade trees in its towns … 😵

Wow, such an interesting video. Didn’t know Holmesglen looked like this back in the old days, the current one that we have to do this day looks more modern compared to this one

These problems are still present in Melbourne in 2024. Uncontrolled urban sprawl with inadequate infrastructure is the neverending problem here.

@ACMI Collection - The building under construction at the start isn't the Gas & Fuel towers. And Northland Shopping Centre isn't in the film, either - it's Chadstone. Northland hadn't yet been built...

This was Hoads best year as a player as he won the first 3 slams only to be thwarted by Kenny at Forest Hills to stop his grand slam quest. Rosewall also prevented Trabert from winning a grand slam as well.

Yes, it has some drawbacks, though. the focal lad is obviously middle class, with access to the hot water, clean clothes, grooming aids that many might have lacked in 1950. And the shot of his lovely ass--surprising in the 1950s--is certainly pleasanter thn this poor chumps general presentation.

Yes, I remember the "women" ringing the ship that had just tied up at the sugar wharf in Yarraville asking if any crew wanted a "chat". No takers so back into the waiting taxi and gone to the next arrival.

You gloss over the bastardry, nepotism and outright thievery of the painters & dockers, wharfies. Also, don’t forget of the outright traitorous efforts of the wharfies during ww2 and the Vietnam wars who sabotaged equipment destined for Australian troops overseas.
