Hi how are things. I'm having trouble with the strap size. I changed the tensioner because it was making noise, I put a 7pk1685 belt on it, which is the same one I had before and the indicator is still bad almost to the last. Can you help me with the strap measurement? thank you greetings
@moosemobileautorepair13 сағат бұрын
What kind of tensioner did you install on it? Sometimes some of the aftermarket tensioners are junk and don't work well or at all like some Dayco tensioners are junk. The same belt size should work if the tensioner is good/OK. Sometimes you can use a slightly longer belt in some cases if you are having trouble. The tensioner should cycle throughout the entire range and shouldn't get stuck. You may need to reposition the tool you are using so you can cycle to the very end of the tensioner's range. Also, putting the belt on to the smooth pulley last if possible is usually easier to do than on a ribbed pulley.

I hate to tell you that electric cars are not going to be the thing in the future they're going to be the thing of the past here in America there's already been two companies EV companies and California not including Tesla but they're two car companies in California who have filed bankruptcy just a week or two ago and to mention also there are over 20 EV companies around the globe including Germany's who are closing up and file a bankruptcy also so people need to get used to gasoline always being here I mean honestly it cost an average of $20,000 to replace a battery in one Tesla so you tell me is it worth 20 grand to buy a battery for a car you might as well scrap that golf cart on wheels

You know how to do the basic things like changing oil and mounting tires. Apply at Walmart where they have a tire and oil change department. Or one of the other chain service centers where you have benefits and a decent hourly rate. Then on the side establish your own repair business with the goal of being self employed in the future.

Thanks for the info. Although, there are still some people who disagree with me and tell me to get an analysis/laboratory tests done on the engine oils. There are a lot of people who don't realize that these extended intervals are usually for warranty purposes and to save the Earth from polluting and from using too much oil. It's not good for an engine to keep running the same oil for that long as the lubricity of the engine oil and additives wear out over time. Other factors such as driving conditions, engine type, usage/application for intended use of the vehicle and the accumulation of water/moisture in the oil pan/sump. Especially with cars that use gasoline direct injection they are prone to fuel contamination/dilution and so the only way to get clean oil is to change the oil and filter regularly. It doesn't cost much either to change the oil a little more often than having an engine burn oil shortly after the warranty is up because of the accelerated wear on the engine and piston rings, etc.

This is how things are nowadays Quantity over Quality. Yet everyone wonders why things are not they way they used to be. Example. It used to take years to build a beautiful building. Now buildings are ugly or plain and put up fast as possible.
@moosemobileautorepair2 күн бұрын
I agree with that. Houses now are becoming of cheaper build quality these days and some things start falling apart after 6 or 7 years of ownership and require much maintenance and repairs. Businesses want everything done as quickly as possible these days with little attention to quality.

Note: Some other things I forgot to mention in the video that was worth noting was that the last shop that I worked for pretty much all of their machines were half broken and not 100% functional including, but not limited to machines such as the tire balancer, the dinosaur era air conditioning machine, etc. The tire balancer never balances and always says to add more weight no matter what. We would just let the wheel spin at the initial spin and add the appropriate weights and then that would be it. The air conditioning machine was a 2 in 1 machine that had R-12 and R-134A, but we don't use R-12 no more so we just use R-134A and most of the time the machine wouldn't take in the refrigerant or would hang up/stop midway through the process and sometimes starting all over wouldn't help either. Also, this shop was not equipped with the new R-1234YF A/C machine so any vehicle with that refrigerant needing work we would have to sublet it since we don't have that machine to do the work. Things like this would slow us down and in some cases we would have to sublet the work to other shops for A/C work and we would sublet the alignment work as well since our shop didn't have a wheel alignment machine/drive-on rack. Some things at some shops are red flags and possibly I would avoid myself in the future so that you are not wasting your time with that employer/shop because it would not be stable employment in the long run. Shops that cannot invest in themselves and into their employees are shops that are not worth working for as they don't value you as a worker. I have seen many shops consistently hire and dismiss/fire good employees for no reason or for their own personal business reasons for whatever that may be. A shop that does not have the proper equipment, tools, etc. to service modern day vehicles is a shop I would stay away from.

Nice how to video. My 1.8 is starting to not engaging into 4th gear smoothly. Sometimes I would get a grinding noise when shifting into 4th. I'm thinking that's a clutch issue?
@moosemobileautorepair3 күн бұрын
@MyDeere3320 If it grinds in 4th gear only it could mean that the synchronizer is going out or worn out. It could also mean that the clutch is not releasing properly as well. I would check/change the gear oil first to see if that helps.
@MyDeere33202 күн бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion. I just replaced the transmission fluid not too long ago. Let me correct my original post. It wasn't making grinding noise. It makes the noise when I try shift into 4th gear. It does go and when it's in gear, the car runs fine. I hope you get what I meant because I can't seem to find the correct word for that.
@moosemobileautorepair2 күн бұрын
Assuming you are using the correct gear oil with the GL-4 spec which is safe for brass synchronizers and not GL-5 which has higher sulfur content and will damage the synchronizers with time. If you are hearing like a whining noise just as you shift to 4th and slowly release the clutch pedal if that is what you mean then possibly the release bearing is on it's way out. It sounds as if it is like a power steering pump low on fluid type kind of whine.
@MyDeere33202 күн бұрын
@@moosemobileautorepair My car is currently at 269K miles and I don't know when was the last time the original owner changed the clutch as I'm the 2nd owner. Car drives fine with no whining noise but just when I switch from 3rd to 4th, if I do it quick, I feel like it's not going into gear properly as there is a sound like the clutch is not not engaging properly. As for the fluids I put in, it's Toyota MT fluid with GL4 additive.
@moosemobileautorepair2 күн бұрын
I would check to make sure the slave cylinder is not leaking and operating properly. It's most likely the release bearing has started to go out which is inside the transmission and it comes as part of the clutch kit when you put a new clutch in. When you press the clutch and shift to 4th and slowly start releasing the clutch pedal and just when you're about to release the clutch pedal near the end of its travel is the noise happening then? If that's the case most likely the release bearing is going out. It might start making noise when shifting in other gears too. Let me know.

Thanks for a great video. Congratulation on your perseverance when faced with every mechanics nightmare - having corroded bolts, studs, and/or nuts that fail to come undone. I wish to ask you why your O2 sensor threads got damaged. Was it because a replacement pipe was installed having a bung with threads not the same as the Toyota OEM pipe, or was it because a replacement O2 sensor was installed which did not have the same threads as the Toyota OEM O2 sensor. Your answer will help me pay better attention to the quality of the exhaust system parts I might purchase in the future.
@moosemobileautorepair7 күн бұрын
This vehicle was purchased used. Everything is original on this vehicle except for the transmission. I believe the transmission has been replaced at some point and this vehicle most likely sat in the yard for at least a year or so collecting rust. The oxygen sensor most likely had stripped threads because due to rust and lack of service. It's not very common, but can happen with vehicles that have a lot of rust especially vehicles that sit for long periods of time. Even when heated up the threads will strip/rip out and come out. Vehicles like these the more things you touch or take apart the more cans of worms you open up.
@lewisheilig36237 күн бұрын
@@moosemobileautorepair Thanks for your answer. It gives me confidence that when buying a replacement pipe or O2 sensor for our 20 year old Sienna that will be scrapped in 2 years from now, that the threads on cheap knock-off parts (O2 sensor and pipe bung) are likely to be compatible, as they would be on more expensive OEM parts.

Hey! Thank you so much for posting those 3 videos on Clutch Replacement for the toyota corolla. I have a 2011 1.6 Toyota Corolla and my clutch is going out. I will try to do this repair myself, I have some mechanic experience but I've never tackled this huge job. It does not look hard, it looks long. I have a few questions and I hope you can answer me. 1. Is it the same procedure on the 1.6 4 cylinder engine? 2. What about the pilot bearing? 3. A shop here where I live said that I have to change the slave cylinder just in case... Should I? I do not see anything wrong with the slave cylinder. Thanks for everything and keep it up!
@moosemobileautorepair9 күн бұрын
Hello, I am not sure which 1.6 liter engine you are referring to as the vehicles I work on are North American vehicles and not from overseas. If you can tell me the engine code then I may be able to tell you. Most Toyota models though will be similar in procedure. There was no pilot bearing on this model so you don't need to worry about it. If the slave cylinder is not leaking then you can reuse it without any problems. No need to replace if it's not leaking. One tip I can give you is to start at the top and remove everything from the top first before you work at the bottom. Especially if you are working on the hoist so you don't have to bring the vehicle up and down regularly to save time.
