Ultimately we concluded that a mix was best. White splash for sideboard cards, none of the energy package, but running Questing Druids and a single Commercial District as Wrenns Resolve #9-12

Thanks for recording this! It was super interesting to watch back and hear your analysis. I think I may have been playing too scared of hazardous blast in retrospect. My heart sank when I saw the two copies in your decklist, just as yours did when you saw the sword.

GGs! Thanks for uploading and helping me process what the hell happened in these matches - losing twice to a busted deck I had never seen before was kinda brutal, not gonna lie ;) I've made it to five wins though and the leaderboards are looking pretty soft, so here's hoping I still get in. Where did you find that info on how the tiebreakers work btw?
@der-general

Hello Simon, congratulations for the qualifier spot. I wondered how the deck works, because a big piece of the combo got nerfed. So, thanks for the explanation. Why don`t you show the game play on Arena? I think this would be a little more attractive for the viewer. I tried the deck on the ladder, but it didn`t work for me (I surely made some mistakes). Do you think, that this deck is a Tier 1 contender in Historic or was it a meta call?

13:00 One note on Shipwreck Sifters: When you're comboing off, it's the worst 2-drop because it takes time as you said, but when you're not (for example, you have a 0 cost Ominous Traveler, but no Birgi), it's the best 2-drop because the loot is very valuable to dig for that missing piece. In fact, I'd often take it over the 1-drops in those situations. Also, worth noting that Jegantha CAN tap for mana to cast the creatures off Ominous Traveler, even though they show as costing colorless in your hand! For example, Jegantha can tap for the RG for Tovolar (but not the colorless), and the UB for Bladestitched Skaab at the same time. That helps you develop a board even when you don't have Birgi and can't combo off.
@SimonNielsenMTG
@SimonNielsenMTG Жыл бұрын
Yep, I've definitely done the Jegantha thing. This video was meant more for the specific full combo turn, but tips and tricks about general play and the fair side of the combo come up in the videos. Jegantha is actually even better than that, because you can use RW mana from jegantha to play Bladestitched Skaab for example.

15:30 Regarding Birgi and the Horn, it's worth noting that if you hit Birgi off Trapfinder, you can play the Horn for a reduced 2R, but it will still die at end of turn, despite the somewhat ambiguous wording on Trapfinder. Can be useful sometimes, but mostly you just want to play it as Birgi on your combo turn for R, like you mentioned!
@SimonNielsenMTG

I thought I actually mentioned that, but that's a good call. It does also come up in the gameplay videos

At 05:40 i am wondering if its okay to just attack with the wolf first before activating saga. That way i think you'll always get 2 damage in at least
@SimonNielsenMTG
@SimonNielsenMTG 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's unreasonable, but board presence matters more than damage imo, so I'd rather try and go for the upside of getting that one counter on it to attack for more in the future, dodge burn etc
