Hi Nate, I live in the UK and came across your video's quite by accident. I subscribe to the addage that your never too old to learn and I find your tips and helpful advice transpose here across the pond. You appear to fish fine quite a lot and often at distance, and I was wondering what type of rod[s] you favour? I'm about to buy what will probably be my last rod and there are various US makers who sell to the UK. Can you offer an opinion? kind regards

Hi Peter, thank you for your inquiry. We really like the Loop Evotec medium fast. This is one of the best dry fly rods on the market. It has a great backbone, sensitive tip, and an all around great rod. For the price point there is nothing like it. Good luck and tight lines!

@@rabecorvo Its very kind of you to respond so quickly and I shall definitely look at them. UK fisher's are quite taken with light line outfits, but I wonder whether you would mind venturing an opinion. I fish medium sized rivers [not small streams], so should I look a a 4/5 weight outfit or, as I see from their website, Loop go down to a #2 weight. Id be grateful for your views and thank you once again for your valuable time

@@peterlaidler3895 We have some pretty large rivers and streams with some pretty massive trout in them. On all our waters we fish a 4wt or a 5wt. We have 1 month where we can throw salmonflies and golden stones and that time of year we will go to a 6 wt. For all intent and purpose a 4 wt would probably be adequate for the rivers you fish. This time of year in Idaho I will only use a 4 wt and this is on fish between 4-10 pounds. You cannot go wrong with either the 4 or 5, if you are casting all day the 4 wt is a little more gentle on the arm!!

We take the belly meat out because it packs a little bit of a punch and is very greasy. It is all about your preference.

Hi Freddy, we use Loop Evotec 4 WT MF for all of our small bug fishing. The reel we use is a Opti Creek from loop and everything is geared with 6X tapered leaders and tippets. Hope this helps.

Hey what month was this in? I was going to try and head up there at the end of June 2018 as part of a long trip but wanted to make sure we get the good fishing.
@rabecorvo
@rabecorvo 7 жыл бұрын
This trip took place in September. Late August early September are great months to backpack in the state Idaho. I don't think you will be able to traverse that country in June, usually the fourth of July marks the beginning of backpacking in the low lying areas. Enos is very high elevation so you may want to plan for at least the middle of July if not later. Good luck, cool place!

Incredible technique... i tried it many times and adopted it since i saw this video... bémol; with bigger individuals it becomes a plus to know this way to filet but i feel there are easier ways even with a good rapala... but; thank you for the great pedagogy; so easy to learn that way! enjoyed and still do when i see it...

Great video and nice fish. HINT: best way to un-roll a new leader is to take the butt (big) end and wrap it back thru the big loop several times until it is no longer wrapped around the coiled loops and then drop the coiled loops and they fall free. Starting from the tapered end is a nightmare.

+Will Sharp Thank you so much for the kind words, the rivers featured on this video are the South Fork Snake River, Henry's Fork, South Fork Boise River, and the Owyhee River. If you ever get a chance to fish any of these waters you will not be disappointed, a mix of large brownies, cutties, and rainbows!

+Dry Fly Innovations thanks for the reply! I'm definitely not as familiar with them as you, but I knew that some of your videos feature the South Fork of the Boise, but then I saw cutthroat trout. So I was wondering if there are cutthroats in the Boise? I have fished the Southfork snake several times and love that river, but haven't fished the Boise much.

Your camera is excellent, making the video very pleasant to watch. Listen to the audio with a good set of head phones. You will tone down the volume of your voice but keep up the enthusiasm and dialogue. I enjoyed the tying clips --- match the actual catch clips with the fish caught and the fly used. Fish on.
