Ei edes harmittanut tuolloin Suomen putoaminen. Alkusarja oli niin täydellistä räpellystä, että putoaminen oli ansaittu. Surkean alkusarjan kruununa oli 1-2 tappio Slovakialle (laukaukset Suomelle 38-12). Vaikka Ruotsi teki tosin viidestä Husson taakse menneestä maalista kolme ylivoimalla (kuudes osuma tyhjään maaliin), oli Suomen ylivoima vastaavasti niin surkeaa (0 maalia/21 ylivoimaa turnauksessa) että ei tosikaan. Jos Suomi olisi selvinnyt tästä jatkoon, kyyti olisi luultavasti ollut tuolla menolla Venäjää vastaan kylmää eikä tiedä oltaisiinko Slovakiakaan välttämättä voitettu pronssiottelussa.

I was at this game! Fun fact about this game: With about 7 minutes to go in the 1st period, the Russia vs USA quarterfinal (happening in Montreal) was in the late stages of the 3rd period. During a stoppage in play in this game, they showed Russia/USA on the big screen. When Sweden and Finland started up again, they took the game off the big screen, to the crowd's disapproval. So they put Russia/USA back on the big screen, muted, WHILE Sweden and Finland were playing. They were still playing when the crowd suddenly roared at the Russia/USA game going final.

Miscontrolled rebound above the crease, puck goes off the shaft of the stick (not the glove) and then in. The referee took quite a long time to review it; I was in the attendance.
