Love this -- many thanks for sharing. Appreciate your efforts to provide this! 👍 Don't need to drill hole in the workpiece -- use double sided tape on a small, shallow block of wood and use that, as stated by a previous Comment posted.

Always so complex. I prefer KISS projects, do the same work, easier to make. (Kiss It Simple Stupid).

Its a drill attachment sandpaper mandrel not an orbital sander. The orbital sander moves in a rotation that goes not just in a circle but more all over the place.

The sandpaper has velcro on the back already. Why is everyone asking this?

U no need to show cutting of all Velcro sides. We can understand. Wasting our time and patience.

They're called hook and loop, probably because of trademark. The back of the sandpaper disk has velcro too

Thanks for the proof of concept! I saw as as for a mini lathe, and I balked at the price. I noticed the RPM range, so I double checked the RPMs of my drill press to see if it would adequate. Yours was the first result when I searched to see if this were, indeed, a viable option.

With all due respect! I found it very unstable! Very thin wood on the base and the hole comes out of the center when lowered! I would have to place 2 more guide tubes on the sides to help the shock absorbers not come out of the center of the hole!

If you add a second long bolt in the other corner and a piece of flat bar across the tops of them, it gives you much better stability. No deflection when using the gouges.

this is ridiculous!! All this time & effort wasted....just man up & make the cut with the jig...it's NOT that difficult!! If needed, grab some scrap wood and make a practice cut, then move on to your actual piece. It's rather easy to make a nice cut with a jig, just have a good blade & follow your template.
